AN OPEN LETTER TO THE PLANNING COMMITTEE AT FLINTSHIRE COUNTY COUNCIL
– THE NORTH WALES BUSINESS COMMUNITY VOICES ITS SUPPORT FOR THE PARC ADFER ENERGY RECOVERY FACILITY
We, the undersigned local businesses and industry groups, respectfully urge the committee members to grant planning
permission to this project.
We believe Parc Adfer will be an environmentally sound alternative to sending our waste to landfill. We stand to benefit
from this as it represents a secure new source of low carbon energy generation that will unlock economic benefits for
North Wales over a period of many years. We believe these benefits include:
• A peak workforce of more than 300 people required during the three year construction.
• Supply chain opportunities valued in the region of £14 million for local sub-contractors during construction.
• 35 full-time jobs, covering a variety of roles, to manage and maintain the plant over its 25 year operation.
Many of these workers could be local people, who have gained relevant experience thanks to the rich history of energy
generation across Deeside and North Wales.
• An average spend of £1.5 million on supplies and maintenance works each year of operation. This equates
to a further £30 million over an initial 20 year period.
We believe this opportunity is one you must embrace on behalf of the people and businesses of Deeside and North Wales.
