Job Opportunity Title: Organization, Location: Position Type: Reports To: Salary Range: Application Submission Deadline: Program Coordinator Phoenix Pride; Phoenix, Arizona Full-Time; Exempt Program Manager Salary will be commensurate with experience, plus competitive benefits package 11:59pm, Wednesday, May 20, 2015 POSITION SUMMARY The Program Coordinator is responsible for organizing, implementing and operating a variety of program services for the Phoenix Pride LGBT Center and Phoenix Pride events. The Coordinator works collaboratively with the staff and volunteers to support the mission and vision of Phoenix Pride. The coordinator assists community members who access the space and services of the Center; recruits & supervises volunteers; assists with administration, and helps maintain the Center’s physical space. Since the organization has a small staff, the Program Coordinator serves several roles beyond just program coordination. CANDIDATE QUALIFICATIONS Essential Qualifications Associates of Arts or Sciences degree in recreation management, nonprofit administration, public administration, social work, LGBTQ/Gender studies or related discipline; One or more years of supervisor-level experience within the recreation, nonprofit, public service or social service sectors and/or program management; OR equivalent combination of education and experience in related/applicable areas. Knowledge of sexual orientation and gender identity and issues of concern related to gay, lesbian, bisexual, asexual, transgender and intersex people and the intersection of other identities Demonstrated ability and strong interpersonal skills to work in a multicultural office with individuals and groups with a wide array of backgrounds, identities, life experiences and communication style Skill to concentrate in an open work area, in a busy office environment; as well, skill to pay close attention to detail and prioritize work load with frequent interruptions Ability to juggle many different projects simultaneously, with consistent accuracy, follow-through, and timely completion of projects Excellent communication skills to express ideas clearly and concisely both verbally and in writing Strong group facilitation skills Ability to recognize and protect confidential information and exercise judgment, tact and diplomacy in handling sensitive information and situations Ability to take initiative, problem solve and work independently with good judgment about when to seek direction Ability to work as a contributing member in a team-oriented environment with an understanding of the entire organization and contexts. Must be proficient in word processing and spreadsheets, Internet and email, and web and graphic design software Ability to utilize current technology and attend to website updates and issues as needed Must be able to pass a standard criminal background check. A valid driver’s license and access to reliable transportation. Ability to consistently work an alternate shift of evenings and weekends Page 1 of 2 Preferred Qualifications: Experience working with community members in a Community Center setting Professional experience working with multicultural and social education, including experience in the areas of race, ethnicity, nationality, class, disability, religion, sexuality, and gender Bachelor’s degree and/or 3-5 years of related professional experience Educational background in counseling, sexuality and gender studies, or other related field Experience with creative educational program development, including program planning, implementation, and assessment Experience with online outreach and current technology (i.e. social networking sites, virtual worlds, blogs, chat rooms, etc.) In addition to the overview above, there may be additional miscellaneous duties assigned.
