PRINCIPAL’S LETTER
STUDENT LEARNING
A Curriculum Day will be conducted on April 13 and
students do not attend school on that day. Teachers will be
involved in professional learning in the teaching of reading
led by Lisa Keskinen, our literacy consultant. Childcare is
available through OSHClub by ringing 0478 155 285 or
booking online at www.oshclub.com.au
STUDENT ENGAGEMENT
The Harmony Day held last week was a fabulous day
celebrating diversity. The performances by the senior and
junior choir were wonderful and the opening ceremony
with year three and four students with the flags was
delightful. The presentation by the Sato family on Japanese
martial arts with the Kendal was awe inspiring, thank you
to Mihoko, Hiroki and Atsuki. The performances by the
Japanese musicians and Warranwood Primary School Taiko
drumming group were fabulous. Congratulations to Mrs
Hunt, the teachers, students and parents who supported
the day.

COMMUNICATION
The world we live in and the way we communicate is
changing minute by minute and to ensure that we are
effective and efficient we have introduced a number of
processes over the last few years, including uploading the
newsletter to the website, a communication App; Tiqbiz
and a new website. We are now at the next stage of
introducing an interactive digital communication system for
teachers, students and parents, Compass School Manager.
This system will allow parents to approve absences,
excursion permissions, pay for extra curricula activities and
school charges and view class schedules, calendars and
student reports. We will begin to introduce this system next
term and comprehensive information will be distributed to
parents. The first step will be to make the newsletter solely
digital. It will be uploaded on Thursday afternoon each
week and available at www.pops.vic.edu.au Parents will
not receive the PDF newsletter attachment and printed
copies will not be distributed to parents. I know this change
in process may take some time to adjust to and we thank
you for your patience and support. There will be a limited
number of copies of the current newsletter available in the
foyer as we transition to the new system.
COMMUNITY
The School Council election has been finalised.
Congratulations to the successful nominees: Mrs Draffin,
Ms Taylor, Mrs Volk, Mrs Jeffery and Mr Kruger. It was very
positive have such huge response to the election and I am
pleased that so many parents took the opportunity to vote.
On Tuesday evening the election of the Executive of School
Council also took place; congratulations to Mrs Frost who
will take on the role of President with Mrs Draffin as Vice
President and Mrs Jeffery as Treasurer. I am looking
forward to having a wonderful year working together.
