ANZAC CEREMONY
This morning all our year six students participated in the
annual ANZAC Day service at Templestowe RSL with other
students from Manningham schools. Our school captains
presented a wreath and all students behaved respectfully
and were a credit to POPS.
Tomorrow afternoon at 2.30pm we will hold our annual
ANZAC Day ceremony in the hall. Thank you to the students
and parents who have indicated they would like to share
stories and/or memorabilia from their family’s history. The
year six captains will conduct the ceremony and Mr Bullen
as guest speaker will join us. I look forward to an inspiring
and reverent ceremony.
All students will participate in a POPS Pals session prior to
the ANZAC Day ceremony. These sessions are conducted by
the year six students are based around special events of the
school and community. The focus tomorrow will be around
our school values and those of the ANZACs.
School Tours are held on Tuesdays at 9.30am
PRINCIPAL’S LETTER
STUDENT LEARNING AND ENGAGEMENT
As you aware our professional learning this term has
focused on the teaching of reading and the importance of
engaging children in reading. This week in the staff meeting
all class teachers took a learning walk through each other’s
classroom looking for evidence of the conditions for
conducting successful reading lessons. Teachers will
continue to use this activity as a regular part of their
professional learning.
Learning Journals are due back at school this Friday.
STUDENT SAFETY
It has come to my notice that some students are arriving at
school earlier than they should. The school grounds are
supervised from 8.45am until 3.45pm. Students who are at
school outside those hours need to be supervised by their
parents or enrolled in Out of School Hours Care.
Any person driving into the school grounds must observe
the speed limit of 5km. The safety of everyone in the
grounds is paramount and the speed sign is prominently
displayed at the entrance, please obey it.
