Quick Install Guide
Installing AvaTax for QuoteQuickly
To install an app from the AppExchange, you must have the “Download
AppExchange Packages” permission.
Introduction
If you have installed SteelBrick’s QuoteQuickly app for customized
quotes, use AvaTax for QuoteQuickly to integrate sales tax, simplifying
calculating tax rates and managing exemptions. This guide provides quick
and easy guidelines to installing AvaTax for QuoteQuickly and setting it
up for your organization.
To get your organization started using AvaTax for QuoteQuickly, follow
these quick steps detailed below:

Install the AvaTax for QuoteQuickly extension app

Update quote page layouts to calculate taxes

Customize quote templates to show tax amount

Configure exemptions for products or accounts

Set up your AvaTax customer code

Set up your AvaTax license key
To install:
1. Click the link you received in email from SteelBrick to install
AvaTax for QuoteQuickly. You may be prompted to enter your
username and password.
Tip: if you are installing into a sandbox, replace the
“www.salesforce.com” portion of the installation link with
“test.salesforce.com” and understand that this package is
removed from your sandbox organization whenever you
refresh the sandbox.
2. Review the package components and click Continue.
3. Review the API access that components have and click Next.
4. Select Grant access to all users to avoid changing individual
settings later and click Next.
5. Click Install. Salesforce notifies you when installation is
complete.
Next, you can set up AvaTax for your organization.
Before You Begin
Before you begin installing the AvaTax for QuoteQuickly extension, make
sure you have everything you need:

To install, you must have one of the following Salesforce editions:
Professional, Enterprise, Unlimited, or Developer (with Salesforce
Content).

AvaTax for QuoteQuickly is an extension to the QuoteQuickly
app. Make sure you have installed the Winter ’13 (version 15)
release of QuoteQuickly or later.

AvaTax for QuoteQuickly is based on a managed package that
locks certain installed components from being edited to ensure
seamless automatic upgrades.

Updating Quote Page Layout
Adding a button to your Quote object page layouts gives users the option
to calculate taxes for a quote. Also, adding the Tax Amount field to your
Quote Lines related list allows users to see the tax amounts assessed for
each line item.
1. Click Your Name | Setup | Create | Objects | Quote and click
Edit next to the row in the Page Layouts section.
2. Click Buttons from the top toolbar.
3. Drag the Calculate Tax button to the desired location of your
Custom Buttons section.
4. Click Related Lists from the top toolbar.
5. Click the wrench icon next to the Quote Lines related list.

6. Select Tax Amount from the Available Fields list and click Add. It
should now appear in the list of Selected Fields. Use the up and
down arrows to move it to a different column in the list.
7. Click OK.
8. Click Save.
This makes the button and field available to users who see this page
layout. Repeat the steps above for any other page layouts that require
this button.
Configuring Exemptions for Products
Add the Tax Code field to your product page layouts to create exemptions
for certain products.
1. Click the Products tab and choose a desired product.
2. Click Edit Layout.
3. Drag the Tax Code field from the top toolbar to the desired place
on your products page layout.
4. Next, configure the “tax exemption code” for products from within
AvaTax.
Customizing Quote Templates
Optionally, add the Tax Amount field to your quote templates so that it
displays in generated quote documents.
To add this to a quote template:
1. Click the Quote Templates tab and select the appropriate quote
template.
2. Click New Line Column in the Line Columns related list and
enter the following:
 Enter a meaningful Column Heading such as “Tax Amount.”
 Enter a Display Order for where you want this column to
appear in relation to the other columns.
 Enter a width representing what percent of the total width you
want this column to have.
 Enter “sbqqat__TaxAmount__c” in the Field Name field.
 Select an alignment for how you want the column justified.
3. Click Save.
Tip: if you want to include the total tax amount, go to the
Line Column for the Tax Amount field in your quote
template and choose “SUM” in the Summary Function
field. This adds a row at the bottom of that column to
summarize the tax amounts in the column. To display the
total on the quote detail page, create a roll-up summary
field on the Quote object that summarizes the Tax Amount
field on the Quote Line object.

Configuring Exemptions for Accounts
Add the Tax Exemption Code field to your account page layouts to create
exemptions for certain organizations that you want applied to customers.
This exemption covers all products on all quotes for the account.
1. Click the Accounts tab and choose a desired account.
2. Click Edit Layout.
3. Drag the Tax Exemption Code field from the top toolbar to the
desired place on your account page layout.
4. Next, configure the “tax exemption code” for accounts from within
AvaTax.
Setting Up AvaTax Customer Code
Determine if your organization already has a custom field used to store an
AvaTaxCustomerCode. It is a customer ID used by Avalara. If you already
have a field that stores this ID by this exact name, you can skip these
steps. If you do not, follow the bullet below that applies:

If you already have a field that stores Avalara customer ID but it is
not called “AvaTaxCustomerCode,” create a formula field called
AvaTaxCustomerCode with a formula that redisplays the value in
your existing field. For example, if your existing custom field on
Accounts is called “AvaTax ID,” create a formula field called

“AvaTaxCustomerCode” that is of type Text that has the formula
“AvaTax_ID__c.”
If you do not have a field that stores Avalara customer ID, create
a custom text field with at least 60 characters in length called
“AvaTaxCustomerCode.”
Setting Up AvaTax License Key
Installing Upgrades
When a new version of AvaTax for QuoteQuickly is available, you will
receive an email with a link to install the upgraded version. It is strongly
recommended that you install upgrades in a sandbox initially to test
enhancements before rolling them out to users in production. To install
upgrades:
1. Click the install link in the email to install the upgrade.
To use AvaTax, set up your AvaTax license key within Salesforce:
1. Click Your Name | Setup | Develop | Custom Settings and click
Manage next to the AvaTax for QuoteQuickly Settings.
2. Click New at the top section titled “Default Organization Level
Value.”
3. Enter any missing information. The address defaults to the
address in your Salesforce organization settings but you may
change address here.
4. Click Save.
Tip: to install in a sandbox, replace the
“www.salesforce.com” in the installation link with
“test.salesforce.com”; this package is removed from your
sandbox organization whenever you refresh the sandbox.
2. Enter your username and password for the target instance in
which you want it installed.
3. Review the upgrade details and click Continue.
Optionally, set up separate user or profile license key settings if some of
your users have a different company address. For example, if a US
company has a European subsidiary that uses a European address in
place of its US HQ address, set separate license keys for these users.
1. Click Your Name | Setup | Develop | Custom Settings and click
Manage next to the AvaTax for QuoteQuickly Settings.
2. Click New at the lower section titled “Setup Owner.”
3. Choose “User” or “Profile” for a specific user or group of users
and select that user or profile in the lookup.
4. Enter any missing information. The address defaults to the
address in your Salesforce organization settings but you may
change address here.
5. Click Save.
Now your organization is ready to begin using AvaTax for QuoteQuickly!

and click Next. We recommend granting access to all users
to avoid changing individual field-level security later.
6. Click Install.
