Dear ROSC Member, February 2015
Military Life...Our Box of Chocolates!
I don't know about you, but for me, thoughts of February always include hearts and f
chocolates. Who doesn't love to receive these? With this in mind, I remembered the
movie Forrest Gump..."Life is like a box of chocolates. You never know what your gon
idea resonates so much with military life, because you really never know what the fut
next assignment will offer, or where you'll be in a year, or possibly even in six weeks
resilient and adventurous bunch, able to take on this uncertainty.
Upon further reflection, I've decided my first idea about military life and the box of ch
completely accurate. We may not know what we're gonna get, but we can make the thing I've heard repeatedly throughout our military years; "It's what you make of it".

1½ tbsp. unsalted butter, melted
6 oz. thinly sliced smoked salmon
¾ cup heavy cream
4 eggs
Kosher salt and freshly ground white pepper, to taste
2 tbsp. freshly grated horseradish or prepared horseradish, drained
2 chives, cut into 1in pieces
INSTRUCTIONS
Heat oven to 375°. Grease four 6-oz. ramekins with melted butter; place in a 9 x 13 baking dish lined with parch
ramekins, reserving 1 slice for garnish. Pour 1 tbsp. cream and crack an egg into each ramekin; season with salt a
water to come halfway up sides of ramekins; bake until whites are set and yolks are still soft, 15-17 minutes. Whi
