Welcome to the 2015 Atlantic Coast Conference Outdoor Track and Field Championships. As you enjoy our competition, you are witnessing national-caliber studentathletes performing at the highest level.
This is an exciting time for our league as we continue to move forward as a true
Atlantic Coast Conference, with membership spanning from New England to South
Florida and beyond. Our current 15 member schools collectively make the ACC even
stronger in terms of Olympic Sports competition. In addition, the ACC geographic
footprint contains the most television households and highest population of any conference nationally. It is projected that by 2030, 55 percent of the population of the
United States will lie within the Northeast and Southern states — prime
ACC territory.
Last season, ACC Outdoor Track and Field capped off an excellent year with Florida
State sweeping the men’s and women’s conference championships. The Seminole
men finished atop the ACC standings for the 11th time in the last 13 years. FSU
became the fourth women’s program in league history to claim the “Triple Crown”
of a cross country, indoor and outdoor league championship in the same academic
year. Both teams placed among the top 20 in the NCAA Championships to lead a
solid ACC overall showing.
The ACC has long stood for excellence on the track and in the classroom. That commitment was demonstrated last year, when nearly 700 track and field competitors
were named to the ACC Academic Honor Roll, having earned a 3.0 GPA or better for
the school year.
