Pins for Needles – an ACC Nursing Program Bowl-A-Thon event! Join us at the Thunder Bowl Lanes on
Sunday, November 9. Bowling starts at 1:00pm and 2:30 pm. Teams of 4 people for 2 hours of bowling and
shoes will be $100. Preregister by November 6 by emailing the ACC Student Nurses Association at:
[email protected]. All proceeds will be donated back within the community.
Hmong Among Us Join student speaker Tou Tsim-Txiaj Thao (TJ) for a unique insight into Hmong culture and
contributions to American culture. TJ is passionate about preserving and sharing Hmong traditions: hear
about life in SE Asia and migration to the US; see traditional attire, photos, and artifacts; hear musical
instruments; and enjoy the traditional FOOD served. Tuesday, November 11 at 11am-12:30pm in CTR 107. This
event is FREE and open to the public but RESERVATIONS ARE REQUIRED – contact Tim Kuehnlein at (989) 3587310 or email [email protected].
This presentation is sponsored by the Michigan Global Awareness Consortium, a collaboration of community
colleges in northern Michigan pooling resources to bring speakers on global issues before the students and
community. Funding is made possible with an Emphasis on Learning Grant from the ACC Foundation and
support from the Association of Life Long Learners.
Excuse the Interruption … On Friday, November 14 through Monday, November 17, ACC will be upgrading
its student information system. During this time all registration activity will be shut down and WebAdvisor will
not be available. This means students will not be able to register/add/drop classes for Spring 2015 early
enrollment or access their WebAdvisor account. The upgrade process affects functions in all areas of
campus, including transcripts, financial aid, business office, etc, so please anticipate your needs. We look
forward to the greater flexibility and reliability this upgrade offers and thank you for your patience as we
improve and advance our technology services for the future.
Lake Superior State University Campus Visit TRiO SSS students who are looking at Lake Superior State
University as a possible transfer destination have an opportunity to participate in a free LSSU campus visit on
Thursday, November 13th. Take part in an admissions presentation, campus tour, lunch, and individual
academic meetings. TRiO SSS will provide the transportation and the meals. Departing from CTR 108 at
7:30am. All interested TRiO SSS students must sign up in advance by contacting Sarah (989-358-7329 or
[email protected] or in CTR 108). This event is for TRiO SSS students only - to get more information or see if
you qualify, contact Sarah or visit CTR 108.
FREE Green Seminars If you are a BUILDER, ARCHITECT, REALTOR, or HOMEOWNER this seminar is for you!
ACC will be hosting this FREE two-day seminar: December 5 & 6 at Alpena Community College.
Completion of seminar gets you two certificates: Green Building and Sustainability and the Builder’s
Continued Competency Certificate along with an update of the 2012 Building Code. For Green Building

November Holiday Hours Adjustments Please note the following changes to normal hours:
Fall Break (aka Opening Day!!) – Monday 11/17 there are no classes, ACC offices open
Thanksgiving Break – Wednesday 11/26 classes starting at 5pm or later are cancelled, Thursday 11/27 and
Friday 11/28 campus is closed
Library – hours reduced on Wednesday 11/26, 7:30am-4pm and closed 11/27 through 11/30
Wellness Center – closed Wednesday 11/26 through Saturday 11/29

ACC’s Auto Service and Repair The program has 18 aspiring automotive technicians that would like to help
you with your vehicle repair needs. We charge only for the parts your vehicle needs, no labor! Our services

Testing Center is located in VLH 122. All students must provide a photo ID prior to testing. Anticipate your
needs and allow enough time for testing. Making an appointment will ensure you have a spot reserved to
take your test. Hours are subject to change, please call ahead to make an appointment whenever possible.

Parking Permits Take a peek at your ACC parking permit - if it is #16300 or lower, it has expired. Stop in the
Facilities Office (BTC 101) and pick up a new one. Remember: the permits are FREE (but a ticket will cost you
$10).
Stay Fit & Healthy at the Fredrick T Johnston Wellness Center The Wellness Center is free of charge for
registered students & staff. Hours: Monday-Thursday 6:30am-7pm; Friday 6:30am-2pm; Saturday 8am-1pm
WebAdvisor WebAdvisor is YOUR student record. Set up (or reset) your account by following the directions
on the "I'm New to WebAdvisor" link at www.alpenacc.edu/webadvisor. If you run into problems, call or stop
in the Registrar's Office VLH 108 for assistance.
ACC Nights at Thunder Bowl Lanes Thursdays 9:30pm-11:30pm: 2 hours of bowling, shoes, pizza, and a
pitcher of Pepsi for up to 4 people, $39.95+tax. 12 lanes available, reservations accepted with payment.
Must be an ACC student or employee to bowl.

Graduation Did you miss the Fall 2014 graduation deadline? Stop in the Registrar's Office ASAP (VLH 108) –
we can still get the paperwork done in time. You earned that diploma – make sure you get it!
