A Word From Our Pastor
“LOVE AS JESUS LOVED!”
Last Sunday’s gospel invited us to abide in Jesus as the true vine, the
only means to bear good fruits as disciples of the Lord. I will venture to say,
that the most important fruit that Jesus expects from us, His disciples; as a
visible sign of our abiding with the Lord, is LOVE. Today’s second reading
and the gospel speak clearly and unequivocally about the concept of love, the
true love.
Jesus in His teachings summarizes all the commandments into two: to
love God above everything and to love one’s neighbor as oneself. We will all
agree that the second commandment is harder to follow than the first one. It’s
easier to love God whom we cannot see, than to always love the person
whom we live with every day. But Jesus wants us, His disciples, to love as
He loves. We know how Jesus loved us. He died for us even when we did not
deserve it. But He did it because He loves us. Consequently, Jesus gave us a
model to follow when He says: No one has greater love than this, to lay down
one’s life for one’s friends (John 15:13). Lord Jesus, help us to love our
neighbors as you love us!
Blessings,
Fr. Quesnel

Help Nepal Earthquake Victims
Catholic Relief Services (CRS) is part of a major relief effort in response to
the devastating earthquake that struck Nepal on Saturday, April 24. A CRS
team and its local partner, Caritas Nepal, are on the ground in some of the
most affected areas, providing emergency shelter, blankets, water treatment
kits and hygiene kits. CRS and Caritas Nepal plan to help 10,000 families
and has made an initial commitment of $825,000 to the relief efforts. That
figure is expected to rise as needs become clearer. To make a donation

“RENMEN TANKOU JEZU”
Nou sonje levanjil Dimanch pase-a kouman Jezu te envite patizan
Li yo pou rete soude sou Li tankou branch yo sou pye rezen an si
yo vle pote fwi. Mwen panse tout moun ap dakò avèk mwen ke pi
gwo fwi ke yon kretyen dwe bay ppu montre tout bon vre ke nou
soude sou Granmèt la, se RENMEN. Dezyèm lekti ak levanjil jodi-a
pale aklè sou reyalite renmen an, renmen tout bon vre-a ki gen rasin li nan Bondye.
Jezu pandan misyon Li sou tè-a te rezime tout Komandman ak
Lalwa yo an 2 kòmandman: ki se renmen Bondye ak tout kè-n epi
renmen prochenn menm janm ak tèt nou. Nou tout ap dakò ak
mwen ke dezyèm kòmandman an pi difisil ke premye-a paske li pi
fasil pou-n renmen Bondye ke nou pa wè-a ke renmen moun kap
viv bò kote nou-an. Men Jezu vle pou tout patizan Li yo, renmen
menm janm Li renmen an. Nou konnen trèbyen konbyen Jezu renmen nou. Nou konnen Li renmen nou anpil paske Li mouri sou
lakwa pou nou paske Li renmen nou, menm lè nou pat merite sa.
Nou sonje trèbyen deklarasyon Granmèt la te fè lè Li te di: “Pa gen
pi bon jan pou ou moutre jan ou renmen zanmi ou pase lè ou bay
lavi ou pou yo” (Jan 15:13). Jezu, Grannmèt nou tanpri ede-n renmen frè ak sè nou yo menm jan Ou renmen nou an!
Benediksyon!

Philanthropists William B. Finneran, Frankie Stevens, Barbara Messier and
Richard Schmeelk along with the Sacred Heart School children recreate their
S.O.S pose from 5 years ago when the school almost closed.
Lake Worth, Florida - March 13, 2015: The children of Sacred Heart School
along with phyloanthropist William B. Finneran, Richard Schmeelk, Frankie Stevens, Father Quesnel Delvard, Barbara Messeir and Principal Candace Tamposi
line up to form the shape of S.O.S. for an aerial photograph. Five years ago, Sacred Heart School faced some rough times and was on the verge of closing its
doors. One of their children suggested that the school send out an SOS to the
community to help us raise the money to stay open. Philanthropists such as Cathleen McFarlane Ross (deceased 2010), William B. Finneran, Frankie Stevens, the
honorable Judge Rodney Eielson, Barbara Messier and Richard Schmeelk heard
the call on the news and came to the rescue. Mr. Schmeelk a retired Navy man
himself understood the SOS call. He came to visit the school and told them that
they would not close. He then gathered a few of his friends from Palm Beach and
formed the school’s Executive Board. Together, the School and the SHS Executive Board put on several fundraisers which helped save the school. (See YouTube: Sacred Heart S.O.S. Music Video - Save Our School! or Students send
'SOS' To Keep School Open).
“Today SHS is stronger and we want to thank the community for helping us thrive by recreating the pose that started it all. Oh, by the
way! The student that suggested we send out an SOS call is now in 8th
grade! (See YouTube: Sacred Heart School stronger video (written by
the Principal's daughter and SHS Alumni, Ali Tamposi). We want the
community to know that we have full enrollment, the William B. Finneran Montessori Academy for early learning, a fully operational
S.T.E.M. (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) Lab and a
sports program which includes Basketball, Soccer, Baseball and Softball. As a matter of fact our Boys Varsity Soccer team and Girls Varsity Basketball team won trophies this school year. Could you imagine
what these children could do if they had a Gym they could practice
in? You see the children at Sacred Heart School haven't (in 70
years) experienced a home game. Can you imagine that? We hope to
change all of this by building the SHS Gymnatorium! HOME OF THE
PANTHERS!”
