Thank you for your continued support and generosity!
May 10 - Sixth Sunday of Easter – John 15:9-17 Today’s
Gospel from John is a challenge. Jesus tells us his basic
commandment: “Love one another as I love you.” Jesus,
calls us friends, reminding us that friends want only what is
best for the other person. Who needs your friendship or your care
this week?
We would like to extend our congratulations and
blessings to all our young adults, who received their
Confirmation on May 5th. Confirmation completes the
Sacrament of Initiation and brings the gifts of the Holy Spirit alive in us so that we can take all that we have
learned and who we have become and apply it in action—full of faith and hope that what God has
planned for us will come to be through the power of
His Spirit. We pray that they will be closer to God and
become more aware of God in their daily lives.
CONGRATULATIONS!
MAY SAINT OF THE MONTH: ST DYMPHNA
Born in Ireland to a Christian mother and a pagan father in the
seventh century, St Dymphna is the patron saint of people struggling with mental illness. Her father struggled with the disease,
and after the death of Dymphna’s mother he was incapable of
dealing with his grief. Dymphna is particularly relevant today
because one in four adults in the United States (approximately
61.5 million people) and 20 percent of youth ages 13 to 18 suffer
from some form of mental illness
The 16th annual Healing mass, including the communal rite of
anointing the sick and a blessing with a relic of St Dymphna,
patron saint of mental health, will be held on Friday, May 15,
2015 at 7 pm in Mt. Alvernia Chapel in Wappingers Falls, NY. A
social follows the Mass. For directions to Mt. Alvernia Retreat
Hous call (845) 297 5706 or visit www.mtalvernia.org
As part of their celebrations for the 150th Anniversary of ministry in the United States, the Franciscan Missionary Sisters of the
Sacred Heart will be hosting Frank Runyeoun as he presents
“LUKE: Stories on the Road”. Please come and join them at the
Mt. St. Francis Chapel on Sunday, May 17 at 7 pm. 250 South
Street Peekskill, NY 10566. For more information call (914 )737
3373. Free will offering.

Prayer for Our Soldiers
O God, almighty and most gracious, help keep our
men and women safe while they are defending our
freedom. Help them fight with valor, serve with honor, and come home when the fight is won.
For those who should fall to any harm, O
Lord, please watch over them so that they
can return home to the families who love
them. In the dark of night and the heat of
battle, may our prayers—and your divine love—give
them comfort and protection. This we pray, Amen.
Outreach to the Homebound
and Hospitalized
If you know of someone within our parish
community who is ill and cannot come to
Mass, please call the rectory with their name
and phone. Also, anyone anticipating surgery or stay in the hospital may request the
sacrament of the anointing of the sick. Because of HIPAA regulations, hospitals do
not notify us when a parishioner is admitted.
Please call the rectory office so that Father
may be notified.

Today when we honor our Mothers, we will ask our
Heavenly Father to bless them now in this lifetime
with good thing and good health. Lord bless them
with joy, love, laughter and pride in their children
and surround them with many good friends. To all
our mothers who gave us life and nurtured us and
all those who were and are a motherly presence in
our lives. We wish you all a Happy Mother’s Day!
The most beautiful month of the year, the
month of May is dedicated to Blessed Mary,
Mother of Jesus and our
Mother, and also dedicated to
our earthly Mothers. At the
main entrance and side entrances of the church you will
find special envelopes for
Mother’s Day. Please take an
envelope and write the name
of your Mother, Grandmother, Aunt and Sister,
living or deceased, and return to our church.
You can drop it in the collection basket or hand
it to the priest. We will place these names on the
altar and pray for our Mothers on Mother’s Day
and for the entire Month of May.
QUEEN OF HEAVEN
The month of May is dedicated to
Mary. The recitation of the Rosary is
especially encouraged during the
month of May. The Fatima statue of
Mary in the parish has been passed
from family to family to encourage
the saying of the Rosary in families
who take possession of it during any
week. Robert and MaryAnn Mendel
take care of the statue. If you contact
them at 446 6818, they will even deliver the statue to your home for the
week that you choose.
