VINCENT DE PAUL The "Little Church with the Big Heart” always applies throughout the entire year! Twenty-Ninth Sunday in Ordinary Time: In the Gospel today Jesus says: “Repay to Caesar what belongs to Caesar and to God what belongs to God.” When God is the center of our lives there is no problem with giving others their due. Thur your gift to the Society of St. Vincent de Paul you are helping your neighbor who is hungry, hopeless and frightened to know that they belong to God. Summer is gone and fall is here. It's a good time to donate no longer needed clothes. We especially need coats for children and adults. St. Vincent de Paul in September fed 102 children, 110 adults, and 15 senior citizens. Pounds of food distributed were 4,100 at a cost of $507.85. Twelve families were helped to avoid cut-offs of utilities at a cost of $680.71. We were able to help 2 families avoid eviction costing $150. Many, many thanks to Ladies Guild and Friends in Faith & Service for their generous donations, which made the outreach above possible. Our commercial-size refrigerator has been broken for weeks waiting for the part to arrive from Korea. Thanks extended to the rectory and Gabrielle Hall for letting us keep our eggs in their refrigerators between "open" pantry days. What a blessing! Please remember SVdP in your prayers. As you can see, none of the above would have been possible without YOUR help. We spend wisely and are always s-t-r-e-t-c-h-i-n-g the dollar. Our annual afghan give away has begun. For each food item donated, fill out 2 tickets. Drop into the box on a stand. For each $1 donated, please fill out 2 tickets. The Drawing will be held at the Parish Picnic, Sunday, October 19, 2014. Thank you for your support. SVDP Memorial Book is in the Rectory.
