know that you are always welcome. The church is opened one
half hour before daily weekday Mass. The ramp door of the

May 17 - Seventh Sunday of Easter – John 17:11b-19
Jesus prays at the Last Supper for his disciples. He wants
them to be full of joy; He asks God to bless and
“consecrate” them in the truth. He is now getting ready to
send them into the world to take his place. In this prayer,
Jesus was also praying for all of us who have heard his
message. Describe holiness. Who do you know that is holy?
We would like to extend our congratulations and
blessings to all our children, who received First Communion on Saturday May 9th.
CONGRATULATIONS!
MAY SAINT OF THE MONTH: ST DYMPHNA
Born in Ireland to a Christian mother and a pagan father in the
seventh century, St Dymphna is the patron saint of people struggling with mental illness. Her father struggled with the disease,
and after the death of Dymphna’s mother he was incapable of
dealing with his grief. Dymphna is particularly relevant today
because one in four adults in the United States (approximately
61.5 million people) and 20 percent of youth ages 13 to 18 suffer
from some form of mental illness
As part of their celebrations for the 150th Anniversary of ministry in the United States, the Franciscan Missionary Sisters of the
Sacred Heart will be hosting Frank Runyeoun as he presents
“LUKE: Stories on the Road”. Please come and join them at the
Mt. St. Francis Chapel on Sunday, May 17 at 7 pm. 250 South
Street Peekskill, NY 10566. For more information call (914 )737
3373. Free offering will be accepted.

Prayer for Our Soldiers
O God, almighty and most gracious, help keep our men
and women safe while they are defending our freedom. Help
them fight with valor, serve with honor, and come home when
the fight is won. For those who should fall to any
harm, O Lord, please watch over them so that
they can return home to the families who love
them. In the dark of night and the heat of battle,
may our prayers—and your divine love—give
them comfort and protection. This we pray,
Amen.
Outreach to the Homebound
and Hospitalized
If you know of someone within our parish community who is ill and cannot come to Mass, please call
the rectory with their name and phone. Also, anyone anticipating surgery or stay in the hospital may
request the sacrament of the anointing of the sick.
Because of HIPAA regulations, hospitals do not
notify us when a parishioner is admitted. Please call
the rectory office so that Father may be notified.

The most beautiful month of
the year, the month of May is
dedicated to Blessed Mary,
Mother of Jesus and our
Mother, and also dedicated to
our earthly Mothers. You can
still add your names of living and deceased
mothers. At the main entrance and side entrances of the church you will find special envelopes for Mother’s Day. Please take an envelope
and write the name of your Mother, Grandmother, Aunt and Sister, living or deceased and
return to our church. You can drop it in the collection basket or hand it to the priest. We will
place these names on the altar and pray for our
Mothers for the entire month of May
Topic: “Discovering God’s Love”
Adult and Teen volunteers needed. Call 845446-2674
The Rosary is a meditation on events in the lives of
Jesus and Our Blessed Mother. It is composed of
four mysteries: the Joyful Mysteries, the Sorrowful
Mysteries, the Luminous Mysteries and the Glorious
Mysteries. To pray the Rosary, make the Sign of the
Cross and on the Crucifix, say the Apostles Creed.
On each of the large beads, say the Our Father; and
on the small beads, say the Hail Mary. The Glory
Be is said after the three Hail Mary's at the beginning of the Rosary and after each decade of ten Hail
Marys on the small beads. Conclude by saying the
Hail Holy Queen.
QUUEN OF HEAVEN
The month of May is dedicated to Mary. The recitation of the Rosary is especially encouraged
during the month of May. The Fatima statue of
Mary in the parish has been passed from family
to family to encourage the saying of the Rosary in
families who take possession of it during any
week. Robert and MaryAnn Mendel take care of
the statue. If you contact them at 446 6818, they
will even deliver the statue to your home for the
week that you choose.
