IAROSLAV GREGIRCHAK, LL.M
DEPUTY BUSINESS OMBUDSMAN
Iaroslav Gregirchak is a seasoned commercial lawyer with more than 15 years practical experience. Iaroslav
specialises in cross-border corporate finance, secured transactions as well as in public finance and
administrative law.
In 1996, Iaroslav graduated from the Faculty of Law of Kyiv National Taras Shevchenko University. In 1997-98
under the auspices of the Ukrainian Legal Training Program sponsored by the Canadian Government, he spent
one year at the Faculty of Law of the University of Alberta in Edmonton, Canada. In 2002, he received Master
of Laws (LL.M) degree from McGill University in Montreal, Canada. In December 2015, he is seeking to acquire
the status of the arbitrator in international commercial arbitration certified by the International Chamber of
Commerce (ICC).
Prior to his appointment as the Deputy Business Ombudsman, as a self-employed attorney-at-law Iaroslav
cooperated with several top tier law firms in Ukraine on trade/commodity finance and secured transactions
assignments.
From September 2007 until June 2010 Iaroslav was the Head of Gide Loyrette Nouel’s banking & finance
practice in Ukraine. From August 2004 until September 2007, he was senior associate at Chadbourne & Parke’s
Kyiv office.
Iaroslav also has commercial law reform experience that he obtained at the World Bank and USAID during his
tenure as an expert in secured transactions (in Ukraine and Azerbaijan) as well as public finance with emphasis
on sub-national borrowings and debt.
In 2002-03, Iaroslav was part of the team of experts hired by the World Bank, which drafted the text of the Law
of Ukraine “On Securing Creditor’s Claims and Registration of Encumbrances”.
