BREWERS SUPPLY GROUP Position Description Position Title: Logistics Manager March 24, 2015 _________________________________________________________________________________ 1. POSITION DESCRIPTION SUMMARY: Under the direction of the VP of Supply Chain, the Logistics Manager is responsible for managing and coordinating all logistics throughout the organization. This position is responsible for providing the strategic and tactical support to build a Logistics department that is efficient, integrated, customer oriented, and a cost effective operation. The Logistics Manager manages relations with transportation service providers, evaluates carrier performance, and negotiates transportation contracts. 2. POSITION QUALIFICATIONS: The Logistics Manager must have strong leadership and the ability to work effectively in a fast paced environment. Must have extensive knowledge of principles and methods for moving and exporting and importing goods by air, rail, sea or road. Must have proven negotiation skills in working with carriers and forwarders in establishing rates, service, and terms. Must have 3. Listed below are the knowledge, skills and/or abilities necessary to meet the minimum job requirements. 3.1 Education: A Bachelor’s degree in Logistics or related field is preferred but experience would offset the lack of a degree. 3.2 Experience: Must have seven+ years experience in domestic and international logistics. 3.3 Licenses/Certification: Valid drivers license. 3.4 Language Ability: Must have the ability to read and write basic "Business English". Must have the ability to compose standard letters with proper format, grammar, punctuation and spelling, using all parts of speech. Must have the ability to speak with poise, voice control, and confidence, using correct English with a well-modulated voice. Must be a quick learner and able to work under pressure and manage an extensive list of materials. Must have the competence to plan and execute strategic efforts. Must have demonstrated ability of managing cost performance, supply distribution, and logistic execution across a variety of products from multiple sources. Must be able to work with TMS, WMS and ERP systems. Must be prudent, ethical, and credible and use good judgment. Must be goal-oriented and committed to the company and its services. Must be a team player with integrity and concern for the quality of Brewers Supply Group’s services and staff members. 3.7 Physical: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by the employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Body Positions: The positions requires sitting up to two-thirds of the time and standing and walking less than one-third of the time. Body movements of turning the head and torso, bending, reaching and flexing the arms, bending the wrists and use of the hands to finger, grasp, handle or feel objects, computer equipment and peripherals are required. Body Senses: Must have command of all five senses: sight, hearing, touch, smell and taste. Must have clear color vision sufficient to readily identify details of brochures, logos, graphic art and pertinent information. Vision must also be sufficient to shift in focus from computer screens to close forms and back as necessary. Must hear and speak well enough to conduct business over the telephone for moderate periods of time. 4. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 4.1 Direct inbound/outbound logistic operations ensuring a cost effective, smooth, Page 2 BREWERS SUPPLY GROUP Position Description Position Title: Logistics Manager March 24, 2015 _________________________________________________________________________________ uninterrupted flow of raw materials and customer orders. 4.2 Manage the carrier base (both domestic as well as international forwarders) to ensure appropriate price, service, and availability to BSG operations. 4.3 Develop and manage logistics budgets and track cost and service performance metrics. Work with finance, procurement, and operations to ensure cost savings or avoidance, appropriate cost tracking tools, and accurate logistics costs and cost reporting. 4.4 Conduct logistics service provider (LSP) contract agreement pricing negotiations. 4.5 Analyze market drivers for freight to develop and recommend transportation strategies. 4.6 Develop and maintain the company’s transportation management system (TMS) to track all shipping activities to support continuous improvement and cost effectiveness. 4.7 Supervise compliance and regulation department. 4.8 Define and implement transportation policies and procedures. 4.9 Support sustainable carrier procurement and relationship building strategies across all inbound and outbound carrier service modes. 4.10 Ensure compliance with all regulatory and legal requirements. 4.11 Develop global implementation of distribution best practices. 4.12 Ability to work alone and be able to communicate effectively with all levels of the organization and suppliers that are located throughout the US and abroad. 4.13 All other duties as requested by management.
