Summit Up May 10, 2015 “Partnering with parents to offer a challenging biblically-based education resulting in students who are motivated to confidently impact their world for Christ.” Upcoming Events: A Note From the Principal’s Office: May 14 2nd grade field trip to Claws and Paws May 22 I’m 50% encouraged! Actually, I’m very encouraged that nearly 50% of our students have re-enrolled or are finishing up! Many of us (myself included) tend to procrastinate. It’s encouraging to see so many of you taking advantage of our new online re-enrollment platform. Remember early enrollment ends in less than a week—we expect to see an influx this week as all my procrastinator friends hurry to beat the deadline. MORE IMPORTANTLY, PLEASE DON’T MISS THE DEADLINE FOR OUTSIDE SCHOLARSHIPS. FREE ENTERPRISE MUST BE SUBMITTED BY 5/15; PA FAMILY CHOICE BY 5/20. What an amazing time of worship put on by our choir and art students. God was surely pleased by the talents our students used for God’s glory. Special thanks to Annetta Schwartztrauber and Shirley Morris for the countless hours they put into making our second concert in our gym a success. Monday was a beautiful day and I enjoyed golfing with my team of Pastor Jason Jackson (Heritage), Pastor Peter Fox (Steamtown) and Sonnie Lehman. Thanks to all the golfers who participated and helped us raise money for SCA. With no help from me, our team took 2nd place. I guess golfing with two pastors can have a favorable outcome. It was great to catch up with some old friends and meet some new ones. Thanks to Todd Zimmerman for organizing this event. Are you a genuine Christian? Pastor Jim Howell shared how God wants us to have genuine faith, love and wisdom. God wants us to be real Christians not actors, not hypocritical. James 3:17-18 “ But the wisdom that comes from heaven is first of all pure; then peace-loving, considerate, submissive, full of mercy and good fruit, impartial and sincere. Peacemakers who sow in peace reap a harvest of righteousness.” We need to love others, even those with different opinions or personalities. Next week, Terry Michael will be here. I really like the nice head of hair God has given me. To date we’ve raised over $20K in gifts for G&W. We are closing in on our goal of $25K! If we reach that goal, I will be forced to spend a school day on the roof and shave my head. Some money is still coming in. I encourage all families to reach out to those on your list that did not give and encourage them to send something in. Many alumni and friends of SCA now receive the SU each week. Perhaps I made a joke about you in 10th grade or didn’t compliment your outfit in 11th grade. Send in a donation (or donate online) to get your revenge on me and help SCA at the same time. The $25K is within reach! Please pray about the possibility of hosting a Foreign Exchange student. This is a great opportunity to share your love and your faith with a young person from another county. You’ll learn a lot from them as well. We currently have 2 students waiting for a home and will have up to 4 more in the next few months. Please call, email, text or stop in with questions.
