Letter From the Pastor’s Desk
Dear Friends in Christ,
As we get closer to Holy Week, I would like to share with you the letter we
read last Good Friday 2014. I wrote this reflection last year and it was read
by Mary Smith, a mother who also lost a child. I figure that this will be good
material for us as we continue our journey this Lent. It begins,
Dear Blessed Mother,
In so short a time you lost him. You lost Him who shared with you why we need to believe, how it is to hope and
who we have to love. You lost your Son who showed you the light and who pointed to you the Way. Now, there
is no life in him as you held His dead body, wounded by love.
Amidst all the pain in your heart, the endless tears in your eyes and the comfort offered by those around you,
you felt alone. Among your friends who gave you comfort, wiped your tears, hugged and cared for you, you felt
alone. Amid the wailings and the lamentations, the sobbing and the grief, you felt so alone.
And lonely.
Nobody can understand a mother's pain. No one can dry the tears from a mother's heart. No word of comfort
can replace a mother's grief.
Perhaps pain has its reasons in the recesses of comfort. Perhaps tears have its basis in our laughters and our
fears. Or maybe perhaps God sometimes puts us in the dark so that we find in him and through him, the Light.
By his death we shared.

We Are Called To Sanctify
ADORATION CHAPEL Come and receive the special outpouring of God’s grace that many of our parishioners have
already experienced by spending time with Jesus truly present in the Blessed Sacrament. Come and be blessed at your
own convenience. The chapel is open from 6AM until Midnight every day except Sunday: Noon to midnight. If you

VOCATION PRAYER CHALICE
Nearly 150 families, including singles and couples have taken the Blessed Chalice into their homes to
pray for vocations once a day for one week. The prayer is furnished. We had one vocation from our
parish in 2014. Several have taken it more than once for a special occasion in their home. Each weekend, at a Mass of
your choice, a parishioner or parish family is called to the sanctuary after communion to accept the Chalice (or you may
take it privately after Mass). The following Saturday the Chalice is returned to the chapel in Marsh Hall and placed on the
altar.

HEALTH MINISTRY
Our transportation ministry has been quite active
and a help to many. If you need a ride call
Allyson Cooney at 609-922-7641.
The Outreach program offers meals to needy
parishioners on a short term basis. If you are
recovering from surgery, have an incapacitating
illness, or other problems and are in need of a
meal, please call Kathy McCracken at 829-0563.
RESPECT LIFE
Say a special prayer for women who have had
abortions. Pray that these mothers may come to
peace with God, themselves, and others involved in
the abortion decision.
CASSEROLES FOR THE HUNGRY – Frozen
casseroles donated on the second Thursday of each
month by St. Charles parishioners are delivered to
Catholic Charities Emergency. Anyone interested
in joining this worthy endeavor, call Cathy Weir at
764-9277.
Next drop off day is April 9th.
Casseroles may be dropped off in the barn any time
between 7am and 9pm. Thank you.
World Meeting of Families
March 2015: Creating the Future
Marriage is meant to be fertile and welcome new
life. Children shape the future, just as they
themselves are shaped in their families. Without
children, there can be no future. Children reared
with love and guidance are the foundation for a
loving future. Wounded children portend a
wounded future. Families are the bedrock for all
larger communities. Families are domestic
churches, places where parents help children
discover that God loves them and has a plan for
each child's life.
FROM THE PARISH NURSES:
The Parish Nurses will be monitoring blood
pressure on Sunday, March 22 in the Resource
Room after the 8 am, 9:30 and 11 am Masses.
Stop by to have your B/P checked. Keep in mind
that blood pressure is a silent killer. Also, if you
have any health or medication questions we are
there for you.

BIBLE STUDY
We openly invite the parishioners of SCB and the
surrounding parishes to a Bible Study of the Gospel

ST. CHARLES BORROMEO
TOTS PLAYGROUP
The Tots Playgroup meets every Wednesday from
9:30AM – 11:15AM. The playgroup meets in the
Richard Marsh Center located at St. Charles
Borromeo School and Church at 2500 Branch Pike,
Cinnaminson, NJ 08077. All caregivers (moms,
dads, grandparents, etc) are welcome to attend with
children aged anywhere from infants to 5 years of
age. We will have playtime, snacks, and crafts. No
registration is required. We ask for a $1.00 donation
each week per child and the money is used for
supplies and snacks for the group.

We Are Called to Educate
“Lord, Send us your Spirit!”

On Monday, March 9, the eighth grade students of St. Charles Borromeo Parish received the
sacrament of Confirmation at St. Charles Borromeo Church in two beautiful ceremonies, which
were performed at four pm in the afternoon, and six pm in the evening. The Very Reverend
Phillip Pfleger, the Parochial Vicar of Burlington County, was the minister of Confirmation.
Father PJ Alindogan, Father Chris Picollo, and Deacon Carl Sondeen were also present to
support the students and participate in their journey of faith. The St. Charles Borromeo Parish
Contemporary Ensemble provided the music for the evening, and filled the church with a
reverend but festive atmosphere.
Confirmation is the third sacrament of initiation, which is received after Baptism and Holy
Eucharist. After a brief homily and a few traditional questions by Father Pfleger, the sponsors
accompanied the students as they walked up to the altar to receive the imposition of hands and
the oil of chrism. As the students were “filled with the Holy Spirit” parents, siblings, friends
and other family members proudly witnessed the traditional rite.
Thank you to Mrs. Patricia Hafner, Religious Education Director, Mrs. Kathryn Chesnut,
Principal of St. Charles School, and the eighth grade teachers, Mr. Tim Hurley, Ms. Eileen
Kennard, Mrs. Kim McCarron, Mrs. Milissa Hepworth, Mr. Richard Saponaro and Mrs. Eileen
Swidowski for their help in preparing the students for this very important event in their
Christian life of faith. A very special thank you to Mrs. Hafner for all of her efforts in arranging
the ceremony and providing time and direction to the students for their beautiful handmade
banners, which are on display in the main hallway of the school, and the individually decorated
candles, which illuminated the windowsills of the church during Confirmation. Under her
guidance and along with their teachers, the students also completed various service
opportunities and many other requirements of the sacrament of Confirmation.
Most importantly, CONGRATULATIONS to our newly confirmed eighth graders.
Go forth and serve the Lord!

ST. CHARLES RELIGIOUS EDUCATION
This week March 24 and March 25th will be the last classes for Religious Education until after
Easter. Please remember to bring in your mission boxes and any final donations you have for
our collection of backpacks and toiletries for the homeless children of New York. Thank you
in advance for your generosity.
On Friday, March 27th the 8th grade Religious Education students will portray the living stations
of the cross in church at 7:00 pm.
Thank you to all our eighth grade students who returned after Confirmation to participate.
There will be refreshments after the Stations in McCusker Hall for the 8th grade.
Religious Education classes will resume on Tuesday and Wednesday, April 14th and 15th.
