FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
ABOUT SENIOR ACTIVITIES
All students must have passed ALL of the required courses for graduation and ALL fees must be paid
or have a payment plan in place before being allowed to walk at graduation.
 DO I HAVE TO PARTICIPATE IN EVERYTHING?
No! All senior activities are optional EXCEPT Senior Project Night. If you choose to participate in the Commencement
Ceremony, however, the rehearsal and senior assembly are then required. There are no exceptions! We recommend that
you do participate in as many events as possible, especially the Commencement ceremony. Graduation is a once-in-alifetime event.
 DO OUR PARENTS NEED TICKETS TO GET INTO GRADUATION?
Yes! Admission to graduation is by ticket only, one ticket per person. Tickets will be available in the main office beginning
Tuesday, May 26. Seating in the auditorium is available for those who find bleachers difficult to navigate. The auditorium
will show the live simulcast of the commencement ceremony.
 WHEN DO WE LEARN ALL OF THE DETAILS OF THE COMMENCEMENT CEREMONY?
At the rehearsal you will learn and practice the ceremony. You will only need to know your row and seat number when you
come that morning. We will post this information on the windows of the courtyard in advance. At the very end of the
rehearsal you will receive instructions in writing for the Commencement ceremony. This will include where to park, what
to wear, what not to wear, what time to be there, where to assemble, and all-night party information.
 WHAT DO I WEAR TO THE REHEARSAL AND SENIOR ASSEMBLY?
YOU MUST WEAR YOUR CAP AND GOWN. This is a very formal assembly and we expect all of our graduates to look
appropriate. Regular school clothes under the cap and gown usually work just fine. Do not wear shorts and a t-shirt. They
would look very inappropriate. Adornments or decorations are not allowed on the cap and gown, and you will not be
allowed to wear sunglasses or carry anything with you.
 WHAT DO I WEAR TO GRADUATION?
BOYS: Slacks, shirt (with collars preferable), shoes GIRLS: Skirt and blouse or dress
Due to safety and stairs, no flip flops or shoes without backs.
 CAN I DRIVE MYSELF TO THE ALL-NIGHT PARTY?
No! The All-Night party is sponsored by the Parent Club and is secure. This means that no graduate may leave early or
arrive late. Everyone is bussed to the party, which is held at a secret location; you will be picked up at Glencoe. You will
ride the bus back to Glencoe the next morning.
 WHEN DO I GET THE ACTUAL DIPLOMA?
Diplomas are mailed to graduates during the last week of June. During the commencement ceremony, graduates receive
only the diploma cover. The school will verify that all fines and other charges have been paid and that all required credits
have been earned before the diplomas are mailed. Be sure all of your fees are paid and we have your correct mailing
address before you leave for the summer.
 WHO CAN ANSWER MY QUESTIONS?
If there is any special circumstance that the people in charge need to know about, that information should be directed to
Ms. Heller, Office Manager. This includes such things as accommodations for hearing impaired or wheelchair bound
relatives, special physical requirements of a particular graduate, and other similar circumstances.
YOU ARE NOT ALLOWED TO CARRY ANYTHING INTO GRADUATION.
YOUR HANDS AND POCKETS MUST BE EMPTY.
