Press release: Germany is issuing visas for business travelers within 48 hours
Starting from the 1st of May 2015, the Embassy of the Federal Republic of Germany
in Beijing has shortened the processing time for business travelers to 48 hours. No
additional express-fees are charged. For frequent and business travelers, the
Embassy is issuing more often 1-5 year multi-entry visas. Compared to 2014, the
Embassy increased significantly the percentage of 1-5 year multi-entry visas. Since
October 2014, the amount has more than doubled. Many business travelers travel
frequently and receive Schengen visas which are valid up to five years. They are
becoming more flexible concerning their travel plans and do not need to apply for a
new visa for every single journey. Chinese business travelers are highly welcome in
Germany.
The processing time for all other travelers who would like to go to Germany for visit
or tourism purpose is likewise short, usually three working days. Further visa
facilitations are in process.
These measures are a result of the Sino-German Governmental Consultations which
were held in October 2014. Both governments have agreed to facilitate mutual
people-to-people exchanges by simplifying the visa process.
Travels to Germany are increasing. Germany is an attractive destination for Chinese
citizens, not only for business travels and exhibition visits, but also for tourism
purpose. In 2014, Germany issued almost 330.000 visas to Chinese travelers. The
numbers are increasing continuously (yearly around 20%).
