How to Change your Apple ID and Primary Email Address
Overview
Students who are departing from Mid-Pacific Institute may have their Apple ID tied to an MPI email
address. Before leaving MPI, it's a good idea to change your Apple ID and primary email address to one
that you own. Doing this will ensure that you'll be able to keep your apps, music, books and iCloud data.
Please follow this tutorial to learn how to do this important step.

TE: Mid-Pacific Institute will keep your student Gmail account open for 30 days from time of
departure. Please transition to your new email address within that time frame. We will not be responsible
for any data loss. If you require a longer time period, please send your request and explanation to
[email protected].
1. Create or use an email address that has never been used as an Apple ID.
Creating a NEW Email Account
If you haven't already created an email address, you can do so at one of the many free email account
services available. Google's Gmail, Yahoo Mail, and Hotmail are some of the more popular ones.
While we won't go through the process of creating an email account in this tutorial, please log into the
newly created email account to make sure it works before going on to the next step.

If you have an existing email account, please make sure it has ne
nevver been used as an Apple ID or previously
used to create an iTunes account by going to http://appleid.apple.com/. If the email account has already
been used as an iTunes or Apple ID, you must create a new email address
address.
Currently, there is no way to merge or combine Apple ID / iTunes accounts. The email address that you are
changing to must either be brand new OR an never used for an Apple ID / iTunes account.

2. Managing your Apple ID
1. Open your web browser and go to http://appleid.apple.com.

3. Sign in with your current Apple ID / iTunes account
Use your current Apple ID / iTunes account and password to sign-in. This would be your MPI student email
address (example: [email protected]).
Note: Apple ID / iTunes passwords usually have a number and a capital letter in it.
Click Sign in.

4. Edit your Apple ID and Primary Email Address
A screen will appear similar to the one below.
Click the Edit link next to the Apple ID and Primary Email Address you are currently using.
In the example below, the current Apple ID is [email protected].

5. Change your MPI email address to your new email address.

Notice that in the image below labeled After that all of the Apple ID criteria has been met and are
highlighted in green.
If any criteria is displayed in red, you must correct that criteria before you'll be able to save your changes.

6. Save your changes.
Click the Sa
Savve Changes button .
Your new Apple ID and Primary Email Address will be saved and a verification email will be sent to your
new email address.

7. Check the email account that you changed your Apple ID to.
You should recieve an email from Apple with the subject line:

erify the contact email address for yyour
our Apple ID
ID..
It will be similar to the email shown below.
Click the link in the email that says Verify Now >
The link will open your web browser and take you back to the Apple ID website.
Note: If you don't see this verification email in your Inbox, please check your Spam folder just in case it got
sent there by accident. If you still have not recieved an email from Apple in 15 minutes, go back to Step 6
and resend the verification email.

8. Verify your account
Enter your newly changed Apple ID / Primary email address and password, then press Verify Address

9. Apple ID and Primary Email account is now changed
A message stating that your Email address vverified
erified with a green checkmark will appear.
