The Navitas Professional and English Programs Division delivers training to individuals
looking to develop their skills and career opportunities. The Navitas Careers and
Learning Skills (CLS) unit is largely a student facing unit focused on English language
and work readiness needs for international students and graduates.
As a member of the Professional and English Programs Division, Navitas Professional is a dynamic
and innovative provider of knowledge, education and training services nationally. Our holistic
approach to education and training has enabled us to surpass our competitors in this area.
Key Responsibilities
The position of Professional Year Trainer has primary responsibilities to ensure that the delivery of
training and assessment activities are conducted in accordance with guidelines and instructions
provided by NCI management, as follows:

Ensuring a high level of customer service for all clients

Delivering quality training and applying adult learning principles and following the CLS
training methodology

Producing effective learning outcomes

Proactively and continuously improving professional competence as a CLS Professional
Year Trainer

Producing positive group dynamics and experience in the training room

Understanding the performance criteria and critical aspects of evidence (if applicable) that
needs to be met by the assessment

Conducting, documenting and continuously improving competency based assessment

Ensuring all AQF requirements are documented while conducting assessment

Ensuring all CLS business procedures are followed and documented while conducting
assessment

Ensuring students complete assessments on time

Completing assessments and providing feedback to students in a timely manner

Participation in moderation sessions as required by CLS

Complying with all AQF and relevant registering bodies requirements
Essential requirements

Certificate IV in Training and Assessment (TAE40110)

Relevant vocational qualification at least to Certificate IV level

Experience working in the Australian workplace within the previous 3-5 years

Evidence of ongoing Professional Development

Excellence in teaching adults utilising best practice adult learning techniques
Desirable requirements

Additional units of competence from the TAE Training Package:
TAELLN411A Address adult language, literacy and numeracy skills
TAEDEL301A Provide work skill instruction

High level interpersonal and communication skills

Evidence of creating positive group dynamics and managing classroom incidents in the
best interest of the client

Excellence in maintaining documents relevant for training and assessment

Knowledge, Skills and Judgment relating to the effective delivery of adult learning

Proven ability to work effectively as a member of a team

Problem solving skills/solution focused

1. Overview and Objectives of the Position

university in Australia via improved student support and an extended academic year. Since then,
Navitas has significantly expanded the services it offers students and clients and is creating
opportunities through lifelong learning for more than 80,000 people in 27 countries every year.

The Navitas Professional and English Programs Division delivers a range of high-quality, innovative
work-readiness and English language programs to individuals seeking to develop their skills and
career opportunities. Navitas has a wealth of expertise in creating fully customised courses to
provide exceptional learning experiences, ranging from memorable study tours and comprehensive
corporate training programs to the establishment of learning and testing centres for government
organisations. The Navitas English Test Centre offers a suite of internationally recognised
proficiency tests, including IELTS, to over 29,000 candidates each year.
The Navitas Professional, Careers and Internship (C&I) unit is largely a student facing unit focused
on provision of work readiness programs for international students and graduates. The Navitas
(C&I) operations deliver internship and workplace preparatory programs across five Australian
states to international students and graduates to develop them professionally and personally to
enhance their career prospects. The unit provides career ready preparation for students seeking to
enter the workforce at early stages of their professional career. C&I offers a portfolio of programs
which develop foundation skills and career learning skills to enable students to progress their
employment goals in their chosen career.
C&I operates as a collegiate, matrix operational model leveraging the skills and expertise of the
C&I and partner Navitas business units to deliver targeted and nuanced work ready and work
development solutions for individuals, host companies and professional associations across
Australia. The C&I team works closely with other Navitas units, to combine areas of expertise to
enable a broad range of students and clients to participate and succeed in the workplace of today
and the future.
The Trainer, Careers & Internships is responsible for delivery of training and assessment of C&I
clients and providing an exceptional learning experience and customer service.

1. Maintain C&I professional standards by ensuring that:

Appropriate classroom management is demonstrated

Student attendance is accurately recorded and reported

Training records are documented in required format

The training environment is set up before the class starts

Professional attire is maintained at all times

Punctuality is adhered to i.e. arriving at the client site on time and completing the
training at the published time

Comments about C&I and Navitas positively uphold the Navitas brand, image and
reputation at all times

C&I Trainers meetings are attended as required

All C&I policies and procedures are adhered to
2. Training

Ensure a high level of customer service for all clients

Deliver quality training on a daily basis by:

applying classroom methodology appropriate to the learners

fostering a positive classroom environment and encouraging innovation and learner
engagement

actively seeking and responding to client feedback

Produce effective learning outcomes to meet organisational and stakeholder requirements

Implement eLearning tools and educational technology to enhance C&I program delivery

Ensure training resources and information are of the highest standard and are accessible
to all learners

Contribute to a repository of learning materials for sharing across the C&I Trainer team

Continuously improve professional competence in the following areas:

knowledge and skills in vocational training and learning that informs training and
assessment

understanding of appropriate methodology/activity based learning to meet learner
needs

current industry skills directly relevant to the training and assessment being
provided;

competency based training and assessment
3. Assessment

Conduct competency based assessments as required by the program

Contribute to the ongoing development and improvement of assessments that are
appropriate to the learner and units of competence being assessed

Gather and submit required evidence of assessments in line with approved policies and
procedures

Ensure assessment evidence is documented in prescribed formats in the learner
management system and hard copy formats as required

Document assessment in accordance with approved policies and procedures

Ensure assessments are completed within set timeframes

Participate in assessment moderations session as required

Provide comprehensive feedback to students in a timely manner
4. Compliance

Comply with all AQTF and relevant registering bodies requirements as a trainer

Comply with all requirements to document training and assessment

Comply with all C&I policies and procedures

Participate in regular assessment validations
5. Continuous Improvement and Professional Development

Contribute to the ongoing continuous improvement of programs and program materials

Contribute to program evaluations and improvement initiatives

Ensure skills mapping documents are updated annually to meet ASQA requirements

Ensure annual performance reviews are undertaken

Participate in professional development activities as required

Selection Criteria

Certificate IV in Training and Assessment (TAE40110) or its successor

Vocational competencies at least to the level being delivered and assessed;

Current industry skills directly relevant to the training and assessment being
provided;

Current knowledge and skills in vocational training and learning that informs their training
and assessment.

Demonstrated excellence in teaching adults and adult learning techniques

High level interpersonal and communication skills

Evidence of creating positive group dynamics and managing any classroom incidents in the
best interest of the clients

Excellence in maintaining documents relevant for training and assessment

Proven ability to work effectively as a member of a team

Problem solving skills/solution focused

At least 2 years full-time training experience
