GRADUATION INFORMATION
CLASS OF 2015
In preparation for the end of the year and for our graduation ceremony, here are important dates and
information. Graduation is Friday, June 12, 2015 at 5:00 at the Kohl Center. Tickets are not required.
Cap and Gown
• Cap and gown is mandatory for participation in the graduation ceremony.
• Students who have yet to order a cap and gown should contact Jostens directly at
1-855-314-2227.
• If arrangements to borrow a cap and gown have been made, please inform Jeneene in room 1027.
Fees
•

Deadline for seniors to pay fees and turn in materials is June 10 by 3:30 p.m.
The next available time to pay fees will be Monday, June 15.
Seniors will not receive diplomas unless all obligations have been paid and reconciled.
Please see Judith Parish in room 1037 to reconcile any obligations prior to June 10.
Class Picture and Rehearsal
• Graduation rehearsal is Wednesday, June 10 from 12:00-2:00 p.m. in the Spectator gym.
• Rehearsal is mandatory for all students planning to participate in the graduation ceremony.
• The class picture will be taken immediately following the rehearsal.
• Seniors should bring their gown to rehearsal for the picture. Stoles will be handed out to students
at rehearsal and caps are not worn in the class photo.
• Stoles can be purchased in room 1027 for $14 until June 11. Unless purchased, all stoles will be
collected following the graduation ceremony.
Note: There will be no extra gowns to for students to borrow during the class picture.
Graduation Ceremony
• The graduation ceremony will be held at 5:00 p.m. on Friday, June 12, 2015 at the Kohl Center,
601 W. Dayton Street. Doors open to the public at 4:00 p.m., tickets are not required.
• All students are expected to be at the Kohl Center by 3:45 p.m.
The graduation processional begins at 5:00 p.m.
• All graduates should enter at the Student Entrance and proceed downstairs.
Photography and Graduation Video
• There will be an area set up for photography on both sides of the stage.
o These areas will be clearly marked and are to be used briefly by anyone who wishes to get
closer to the stage to take a picture of their graduate.
o Seating is not allowed in this space in order to provide all families an opportunity for
pictures.
o Audience members are asked to stay off the main floor and away from the stage before,
during and after the ceremony.
• Empire Photography will take individual graduate pictures as students cross the stage, and again as
they exit the stage.
• Madison Metropolitan School District will be filming graduation. Graduation videos will be
available through MMSD Media Department. Forms are available electronically at:
https://www.madison.k12.wi.us/grad-dates.
Graduation Attire
• Seniors are expected to dress appropriately for graduation. If students are not dressed
appropriately, they will not be allowed to participate in the ceremony.
• All students must wear a cap and gown.
• Students should wear dress shoes with dark socks, dress pants, and collared dress shirt with a tie,
or an appropriate dressy outfit with dress shoes or dress sandals.
• Flip flops, jeans, t-shirts and athletic shoes are not allowed.
• Nothing is to be on cap except tassel.
• Nothing is to be worn on gown except honor or congress cords and the six allowed pins.
o Allowed pins are: AVID, NHS, Foreign Language Honor Society, the Academic Achievement
Award (Honors Pin), Certified Nursing Assistant and Service E.
Graduation Decorum
•
Noise Makers, spray string, balloons, confetti, or other similar pranks will not be allowed. Students
with any of these items will be escorted from the ceremony by school principals and not allowed to
participate in the graduation ceremony.
• Throwing caps is not allowed. This can result in serious injury.
Parking
•

Parking is sold first-come, first- served, the day of the event in Lots 29, 46, 83, & 91 with handicap
accessible parking sold in all lots. Parking will be available starting at 2:00 p.m. on Friday afternoon.
Parking for the ceremonies will be sold in the following campus lots for $10 per vehicle:
o Lot 29: Welcome Center, 21 N. Park Street
o Lot 46: SE Campus Ramp, 301 N. Lake Street
o Lot 48: Ogg Hall, 120 E. Campus Mall – Handicap Accessible Parking Only
o Lot 83: Fluno Center, 601 University Avenue
o Lot 87: Behind the SERF – Handicap Accessible Parking Only
o Lot 91: East of Kohl Center, 105 N. Frances
o Lot 20: McArdle Lab/School of Social Work, 1400 University Avenue (booth attendant)
o Lot 17: Union South/Camp Randall (booth attendant)
There are other parking sites within a 5-10 block walking distance to the Kohl Center that are FREE
after 4:30 p.m. on Friday and FREE all day Saturday during graduation weekend. Visit the

lot locations and a map with parking information for the day of your graduation ceremony at

The Kohl Center does not allow any balloons or glass vases into the facility. These items will be
confiscated in the entryway.
As a complementary service, roses can be purchased at the Kohl Center before and after the
graduation ceremony.

End of Year Senior Celebrations
Departmental Awards Ceremony: Wednesday, June 3 at 8:30 a.m. in the Margaret Williams Theater.
Ceremony will recognize students who have been selected to receive Departmental Awards. Invitations to
nominated students will be mailed during the week of May 18th.

Senior Brunch: Following the Departmental Awards Ceremony on Wednesday, June 3 from 9:30-10:45 a.m.
in the Cafeteria. Seniors are encouraged to dress up for the day.
• All pre-ordered Yearbooks will be distributed during the brunch and will also be available to
purchase for $52.00.
• All seniors will be excused through 3rd hour, but are expected to attend classes for the rest of the
day.

Senior Scholarship and Awards Night: Wednesday, June 3 at 6:30 p.m. in the Margaret Williams Theater.
Ceremony will recognize students who are receiving monetary scholarships and/or honor cords Reception
will follow in the cafeteria. Invitations have been mailed to recipients.

Senior Party: Saturday, June 6, from 8:00 p.m. until 12:00 a.m. in the Cafeteria and Mall. Seniors are
welcome to attend this Mardi-Gras themed party with live music, food, casino games, dancing and prizes.
