If you don’t see an application listed under All Programs, double-click the icon. All published applications can be found here. Important Considerations Prior to Connecting to Citrix 1. Ensure You Have The Latest Citrix Receiver. Citrix occasionally updates the Citrix Receiver for optimal connectivity. Navigate to http://receiver.citrix.com/ to download the latest client. 2. Audio. Be sure that audio is enabled on your PC prior to connecting to Citrix to ensure that audio is available when connected via Citrix. 3. Printing. Be sure that your home printer is turned on prior to connecting to Citrix to ensure that you will be able to select that printer when connected via Citrix. 4. Connect to the Correct Address. Do not use secure-east, remoteeast, secure-west or remote-west to access Citrix. Accessing the Citrix Desktop Type http://remote.ballardspahr.com in the address field of Internet Explorer. If you work in… an Eastern office * Then select… Identifying and Resolving Citrix Performance Issues If you experience connection issues from… home (e.g., a delayed keyboard response, freezing or a delay in opening applications) . a Western office* . *InTapp Time pilot users should select the appropriate Axiom Desktop. Installing Citrix If prompted to install files, follow the steps outlined below. 1. After logging into Citrix, an Install dialog box displays. 2. Click the I agree with the Citrix license agreement checkbox. 3. Click the Install button. 4. Click the Run button. Important! It is extremely important to occasionally check for the latest Citrix client updates. From your personal computer or laptop, go to http://receiver.citrix.com/ to download updates. The site will recognize your operating system and insure you are receiving the correct client. a hotel or conference • unplug your router from the electrical outlet and plug it back in to obtain a new IP address and refresh your connection, or • hardwire your laptop or PC using an Ethernet cable connected from the router to your device to test whether WiFi is the issue. Note: Using Netflix, streaming videos and/or games may also decrease available bandwidth. • inquire whether their network allows SSL connections. If they do not, this will prevent you from connecting to Citrix. Note: Connectivity to public networks, including shared access at hotels, apartment buildings, libraries, airplanes, etc., may result in diminished performance and dropped connections. Important! If you experience problems with Citrix, please contact Tech Support @ 631.8989 or 215.864.8989. They have tools to track real-time and historic connectivity issues and can assist you in resolving them. Closing the Citrix Desktop Important! Following the steps below will help to reduce your risk of leaving a document checked out on Citrix. 1. After closing all open documents, from FileSite in Outlook, click _Checked-out Documents. Results: Any checked-out documents display in the document pane. 2. Are there any checked out documents? • If yes, right-click on the document and select Check in… • If no, proceed to Step 3. Common Causes to WiFi Disconnects Many WiFi routers operate on the same frequency as most of your major electrical appliances such as hair dryers, televisions and microwaves. Because of this it is very easy for your WiFi signal to become scrambled and lost among all of the electrical background noise in your home. If your WiFi disconnects when operating these appliances, that may be the cause. 3. Close Outlook, Word, or any open applications by going to the File menu and selecting Exit. Adjusting Sleep Settings To prevent your computer from going to sleep frequently which can prematurely disconnect the Citrix session, we recommend adjusting sleep settings. 4. Click the Start button. 5. Select Log off. Result: The Citrix XenApp web page displays. Adjusting Sleep Settings on a MAC OSX 1. Under Energy Saver, drag the slider bar for Computer Sleep to the right for both Battery and Power Adapter to reflect: Battery: 30 minutes and Power Adapter: Never. Adjusting Sleep Settings on a Windows PC or Laptop 1. Click the button and select Control Panel. Adjusting Sleep Settings on a Windows PC or Laptop, continued… 1. Select Power Options. 2. Select the change when the computer sleeps link. 3. Click the Put the computer to sleep option. 4. Click the drop-down and choose Never. Note: For laptops, to avoid draining the battery, we recommend: On battery: one hour and Plugged In: Never. Windows 7 and 8 Citrix Connectivity Issues If the PC is running Internet Explorer 11, Citrix may not launch. Follow the steps outlined below to add Citrix to Compatibility View. What version of Internet Explorer am I using? 1. Click Help on the Menu bar. 2. Select About Internet Explorer which will display the version of Internet Explorer running on the PC. 3. To correct connectivity issues, follow these steps. 4. In Internet Explorer 11, click Tools and select Compatibility View Settings. Note: If you are unable to see the Tools menu, right-click on the top Internet Explorer bar and select Menu Bar. Result: The Compatibility View Settings dialog box opens. 5. In the Add this website: field, type ballardspahr.com. 6. Click the Add button and then the Close button. 7. Exit and reopen Internet Explorer for the changes to take effect. Important Note! Effective February 27, 2015 you will not be able to save files from a Citrix session (e.g. Filesite, H:\Blocks) to the local drive of your device.
