DOING IT RIGHT THE FIRST TIME
Get set-up to use the Best Buy PIM Portal correctly initially; it will
make future use easier.
¾ Provide an accurate Global Location Number (GLN) for PIM Portal at time of
set-up.
The GLN is the key vendor identifier in Best Buy PIM Portal and your assigned Best Buy
vendor numbers are linked to it in internal systems. When establishing a GDS partnership
with Best Buy, the GLN used to publish data must match the GLN established in the PIM
Portal.
¾ Make sure your company’s Vendor Security Administrators (VSA) are
current, and you have more than one.
VSAs maintain security rights for ExtendingTheReach.com and the PIM Portal to individuals
who need to access these systems for your company. This is important to ensure the privacy
and security around your information. Third party sales representatives cannot be the VSA
for your company

PRODUCT INFORMATION ROADMAP
There are some challenges in transferring product information to
Best Buy.
¾ Current process needs upgrade and we are making integration with Best Buy
easier.
¾ We are aware of current challenges for vendors.
ƒ Assortments are not clear ahead of Data gathering
ƒ Most vendors are needed to follow-up with manual updates after the GDSN data
push
ƒ The manual process is slow and not user friendly enough – Need ability to submit in
bulk
ƒ Duplicate requests for same information – partners request same information
despite submitted via portal.
ƒ Lack of rich content and asset capturing directly. Currently this is done via 3rd Party
Partners

Product Information including Images, Documents and Video (where applicable).
¾ Improvements in the PIM portal to accommodate bulk updates.
¾ Improved Product Taxonomy including granular attribution and rich content.
