How to renew your CEN by CEU’s

How to renew your CEN by CEU’s
Your CEN certification must be renewed every 4 years. BCEN® generally recommends you begin the
recertification process at least 3 to 4 months before your certification expires
If your current certification expires after 12/31/2016, you must adhere to the new CE
requirements, as follows:
A total of 50 of 100 contact hours must come from accredited sources.
Only the online recertification application form accessible via your BCEN Account will be
accepted.
The paper-based recertification application form cannot be used and will not be accepted.
Tracking Your CEs
Each time you take a course or in-service, you should receive a certificate with the number of contact
hours given for the lecture or presentation. Keep these certificates or cards, as they will be handy when
you need to renew your CEN certification, and you can easily enter them in the Recertification by
Contact Hours log. For CE to be eligible to use for recertification, it must have occurred during the 4
years of your certification. You will also need the certificates/cards in case you are randomly audited.
BCEN's policy is to randomly audit 10% of recertification by CE applications on an on-going
basis. It's easy to keep track of your CEs using the online CE Recertification Log located in your
BCEN Account. Enter them as you go along, or all at one time. You will need your BCEN login and
password to do this.
