Creative Solutions for the Digital Life™ How to Enable Port Forwarding on the Q1000 Qwest Wireless N VDSL Modem Router Port forwarding is required when you need to access a device or application from outside of your home network. Certain online games and/or network cameras used for remote monitoring may require that you forward the port that they are using inside the home network. The instructions below are for the Q1000 Qwest Wireless N VDSL Modem Router with QAQ01-31.00L.29 firmware. Note: There are some, preset port forwarding rules written for certain applications. Click the Applications Tab under security to see the list of preset rules. If you find the rule you need, you can disregard the instructions below. Q1000 Qwest Wireless N VDSL Modem Router from Actiontec 5 Step Select the appropriate protocol from the drop down list. Enter the IP Address of the PC or network device that has the service running on it. 6 Step Unless you need to specify the Remote ports or IP address, leave them at the default values. (Remote Starting: 0, Ending: 65535, and IP Address: 0.0.0.0) 7 Things You’ll Need Step • Q1000 Qwest Wireless N VDSL Modem Router • Port that needs to be forwarded Click Apply to save the Port Forwarding Rule. 1 Step On any computer that is connected to the Internet, type http://192.168.0.1 in the web browser window and then press Enter. 2 Step Select Advanced Setup. 8 Step Once the “Thank You” screen appears, the port forwarding rule is ready to be tested.Always test a port forwarding rule from‘outside’ of the home network (LAN). (Examples: check the ports from a friend’s house or have a friend check for you…etc) Note: Even though you have forwarded the port correctly, the software firewall that may be running on the device you are forwarding may be blocking that port. Make certain the ports you forwarded in the Q1000 Qwest VDSL Modem Router are also open in the software firewall installed on the computer that is running the port forwarding application or service. 3 Step Scroll down the menu on the left and select “Port Forwarding” 4 Step Once the Port Forwarding screen appears, enter the beginning and ending port in each of their respective fields.
