CUT
Step 1
Cut cable using the IDEAL TeleMaster™ (30-496).

STRIP
Step 3
Insert connector and cable into the IDEAL TeleMaster™
(30-496). Insert into proper die cavity and squeeze handles
to crimp. Note: Can use IDEAL Ratchet TeleMaster™
(30-696) or Crimpmaster™ Crimp Tool (30-506) with
RJ-11 four or six conductor Crimp Die (30-556) or RJ-45
eight conductor Crimp Die (30-559).
Note: Telephone extension cords require reverse wiring. Reversed wiring is achieved by installing one
connector in the opposite wiring configuration of the first connector.
Step 1
Determine how much of the outer jacket to remove
for your application.
• Strip 1/4" for RJ-11 four or six conductor • Strip 1/2" for
RJ-45 eight conductor Note: Tool has stripping
guides that gauge the strip length for you.
Step 2
Strip cable using the IDEAL TeleMaster™ (30-496).
Note: The IDEAL Telephone Line Cord Stripper (45-519)
can also be used to make the strip.

Step 1
TEST
Testing of telephone cable requires testing for
opens, shorts, or mis-wires in the cable.
Simply plugging your telephone into the wall
jack and listening for dial tone will complete
this test; however, IDEAL offers several testers
to do this as well as other common tests.
IDEAL Tone Generator (62-100)
and Amplifier Probe (62-104)
These two products when used together can trace cable in
a building and check for continuity as well. The tone generator simply plugs into the wall outlet and the amplifier probe
can trace the cable to its source. Note: Also available is the
IDEAL Tone Generator/Amplifier Probe Kit (33-804) with
soft-sided carrying case.
62-100
Match the cable and connector. For example, an
RJ-11 4-conductor modular plug is needed for 2-pair flat
telephone cable.
Step 2
Slide connector on stripped cable. Note: Maintain proper
pairing of cable, referring to wiring configurations.

IDEAL Smart6™
Modular Tester (62-096)
This simple in-line modular tester can test for power, jack
addresses and polarity. Simply plug it into the wall outlet
and press the test button. LED lights indicate presence of
power and polarity.
IDEAL Craft Testset-Model 4 (62-400)
Used by installers, repair technicians and other telecommunication personnel for the installation and testing of
telephone services.

IDEAL ABS™ Tester (62-180)
The ABS Tester or “Almost a Buttset” tester allows for
identification of dial tone problems, polarity certification,
presence of power, and tone tracing. Plug it into any telephone wall outlet and press the “Listen” button to conduct
the test. It can be used in conjunction with the IDEAL
Tone Generator (62-100) for tracing cables.
