Below are the steps to follow to use the tool PavSigUpdater.exe developed
to update the products the tool applies to. This tool deactivates the shield,
allowing the virus signature file to be updated manually. This tool should only
be used under the following circumstances:


To check if a given error can be caused by a problem in the PAV.SIG file, forcing the update to a previous
pav.sig file.
To update computers without an Internet conection.
How to use it
1.
Copy an updated pavXXXX.zip to the hard disk, to the Desktop for example.
2.
Decompress the pavXXXX.zip to get the pav.sig file.
3.
Decompress the tool PavSigUpdater.zip and run the PavSigUpdater.exe file . When running the
application, the interface could be similar to the following:
4.
In Virus Signature File to update, select the path to the pav.sig that you have just decompressed (in this
case the Desktop). If you have not run the pavsigupdater.exe file from the same location as the updated
pav.sig, select the path to the pav.sig virus signature file by clicking on the file selection button.
IMPORTANT: Should the pav.sig file be located in the network, for example, in another machine, the
on-the-fly update will not work.
In Path to virus signature file to be updated , select the path of the pav.sig file to update. The default target
directory will be the directory in which the security solution is installed; this path can be modified.
5.
Click on Update.
At that moment, the program will carry out the following operations:
o
Checks that the source and target path specified earlier are valid. If they are, it shows a window
like the following:
If they are incorrect, an error message is displayed.
o
Validates the pav.sig stored in the source directory.
o
Deactivates the shield for this process.
o
Replaces the pav.sig in the target directory using the AS (Analysis System) program kernel or
on-the-fly update. After replacing the file, the following message is displayed:
o
Activates the shield once again.
