Pentecost Sunday is one of the most ancient feasts of the Church, celebrated early enough to be mentioned in the Acts of the Apostles and St. Paul's First Letter to the Corinthians. It is the 50th day after Easter (if we count both Easter and Pentecost), and it supplants the Jewish feast of Pentecost, which took place 50 days after the Passover and which celebrated the sealing of the Old Covenant on Mount Sinai. The Acts of the Apostles recounts the story of the original Pentecost as well . Jews from all over were gathered in Jerusalem to celebrate the Jewish feast. On that Sunday, ten days after the Ascension of Our Lord, the Apostles and the Blessed Virgin Mary were gathered in the Upper Room, where they had seen Christ after His Resurrection: And suddenly there came a sound from heaven, as of a mighty wind coming, and it filled the whole house where they were sitting. And there appeared to them parted tongues as it were of fire, and it sat upon every one of them: And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and they began to speak with divers tongues, according as the Holy Ghost gave them to speak. [Acts 2:2-4]Christ had promised His Apostles that He would sent His Holy Spirit, and, on Pentecost, they were granted the gifts of the Spirit. The Apostles began to preach the Gospel in all of the languages that the Jews who were gathered there spoke, and about 3,000 people were converted and baptized that day. That is why Pentecost is often called "the birthday of the Church." On this day, with the descent of the Holy Spirit, Christ's mission is completed, and the New Covenant is inaugurated. It's interesting to note that St. Peter, the first pope, was already the leader and spokesman for the Apostles on Pentecost Sunday (see Acts 2:14ff).In years past, Pentecost was celebrated with greater solemnity than it is today. In fact, the entire period between Easter and Pentecost Sunday was known as Pentecost (and it still is called Pentecost in the Eastern churches, both Catholic and Orthodox). During those 50 days, both fasting and kneeling were strictly forbidden, because this period was supposed to give us a foretaste of the life of Heaven. In more recent times, parishes celebrated the approach of Pentecost with the public recitation of the Novena to the Holy Ghost. St. Anthony of Padua( June 13) He was born in 1195 in Lisbon of rich parents. His baptismal name was Ferdinand and as a young boy he loved God and loved to pray. When he was 15 he left home and joined the Augustinians. Then he studied in Coimbra at the age of 25 became a priest. In 1220 he saw five Franciscan martyrs being returned to Lisbon from Morocco. They had been martyred for the faith. The sight of these five Franciscan martyrs moved him to leave the Augustinians and become a Franciscan. At this point he took the name of Anthony. Body and Blood of Christ June 22 is the Feast of Corpus Christi and in order to celebrate this Feast with greater dignity there will be a procession outside the church (after 11AM Mass). Uroczystosć Zesłania Ducha Sw.,którą przeżywamy w tym roku 8 czerwca kończy liturgiczny okres Wielkanocny.Uroczystosci ku czci Ducha Swiętego rozpoczęlismy 9-dniową Nowenną. Pan Jezus posyła do serc naszych obiecanego Pocieszyciela - Ducha Prawdy, który wszystko nam przypomina i prowadzi Koscioł do ostatecznego wypełnienia obietnic Bożych. Duch Swięty jest w nas sprawcą chcenia i działania. Bez Jego pomocy nikt nie może powiedzieć „Panem Jest Jezus”. Serdecznie zapraszamy wszystkich do głębokiego i radosnego przeżywania „Zielonych Swiątek”. Przyjdź Duchu Swięty—ja pragnę. Oto dzis błagam cię. Święty Antoni Padewski ( 13 czerwca) Urodził się w Lizbonie w 1195r. w poważanej, bogatej rodzinie. Ferdynand (bo takie jest jego imię z Chrztu św.) już od najmłodszych lat był zachwycony Bogiem. Kochał modlitwę. W 15 roku życia, wbrew woli krewnych, opuścił swój pałac i wstąpił do zakonu augustianów na przedmieściach Lizbony. Następnie udał się do Koimbry na studia, zaś w wieku 25 lat przyjął święcenia kapłanskie. Gdy w 1220r. Koimbrę obiegła wieść, że w Maroko poniosło męczeńską śmierć pięciu misjonarzy franciszkanskich, których ciała przywieziono do Koimbry, Ferdynand opuścił Augustynów i przyłączył się do Braci Franciszkanów, gdzie przybrał imię Antoni. Zasłynął jako miłośnik Pisma Św. i Maryi, teolog i kaznodzieja, którego nauczanie Bóg potwierdzał znakami - cudami. Nazywany jest Doktorem Ewangelicznym. Bardzo troszczył się też o ubogich. Urczystosć Bożego Ciała przypada za 2 tygodnie - 22 czerwca Zaraz po Mszy Sw. o godzinie 11AM będzie uroczysta procesja Eucharystyczna do czterech ołtarzy na zewnątrz koscioła. Pierwsze spotkanie organizacyjne, które ma nas lepiej przygotowac do zorganizowania i przezycia procesji odbędzie się w srodę, 11 czerwca po Mszy Sw. o godzinie 7PM. Na spotkanie zapraszamy wszystkich parafian i sympatyków naszego koscioła, a w szczególnosci dzieci z Pierwszej Komunii, Bierzmowania, harcerzy, społecznosć Szkoły Polskiej im. Sw. Jana Pawła II , nauczycieli religii, młodzież, zespoły ludowe, organizacje przykoscielne i polonijne. Pan Jezus już się zbliża - już puka do mych drzwi. Pobiegnę go przywitać z radosci serce drży. Niech słowa tej eucharystycznej piesni zachęcą nas do aktywnego udziału w tej pięknej polskiej tradycji religijnej.
