Music Notes From
Pastor’s Notes
St.Raphael Music Ministry :
JESUS IS LORD!
Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,
In every moment of every day, God is ready to
forgive. Has any one sinned? He invites us to turn to
him for forgiveness and cleansing. Unlike most of us,
God is not miserly with his forgiveness. All he asks is
that we turn to him, confess our failings, and ask him to
wash us clean. Then we will know his mercy and receive grace to obey him more faithfully.
What is the source of such mercy? The blood
that Jesus shed for us on the cross- a “once-for-all” sacrifice that encompasses all of time and space (Hebrews
9:26). Is there any sin his blood cannot forgive? We can
answer this question with a resounding “NO!” His blood
has the power to wipe away, erase, and remove every act
of transgression (Acts 3:19). Once God forgives sin, it
simply is no more (Psalm 103:10-12)!
Where would we be without the blood of Christ?
His blood not only brings about our forgiveness, it also
sets us free from the hold that evil has on us. It can turn
our hearts away from rebellion and self-love, and move
us to take on the kindness and generosity of Jesus himself.
The mercy that God has poured out through the
blood of Jesus is available to every person who calls out
to him, no matter how horrible the crime or offense.
Does this seem unjust? Shouldn’t there be exceptions sins so evil that God simply should not forgive? That
might make sense to our human way of thinking, but that
is not how God is. His mercy is as limitless as He himself is. And this is good news for all of us. If there were
limits to the mercy of God, we might all be in jeopardy.
After all, who among us can claim to go even one day
without offending the holiness and love of God?
We are busy preparing for Pentecost and all the liturgies
that lead up to it! All choirs are in need of more members…consider being a ringer or singer. See “This Week
at St. Raphael-Holy Angels” for listing of days and times
for rehearsals. Please consider sharing your gifts and talents in this ministry...you are needed!
There are still CD’s available…”How Sweet The Sound”
can be purchased for $15.00 each. Please see Lori or contact the rectory and leave a message.
St. Raphael-Holy Angels Food Pantry
Please remember the parish food pantry each time that
you do your grocery shopping, and consider purchasing
even one extra item to donate to our neighbors who are in
need. We are always in need of all types of nonperishable food items, personal care products and household cleaning items. These items can be deposited in the
designated bins that are located at the entrances of both
Church buildings. Monetary donations are also most appreciated, as they are used to purchase items that are in
short supply.
Upcoming “Reach Out Saturdays” are
May 20th and June 3rd.
Let us pray: “Father, your mercy comes to us in our
greatest need. You take us, sinful as we are, and
make us beautiful again in your sight. Your mercy is
endless, and for that we cry out to you in praise and
adoration!”
In Jesus and Mary,
Father Jeff Kegley

"An Integral Dimension
of a Christian's Faith and Prayer"
TOTAL
Dear Brothers and Sisters!
This Sunday the Gospel of John recounts that
the risen Jesus appeared to his disciples, gathered
in the cenacle, on the evening of the "first day of
the week" (John 20:19), and that He showed himself to them again in the same place "eight days
later" (John 20:26).
From the beginning, therefore, the Christian
community began to live a weekly rhythm, highlighted by the encounter with the risen Lord.
It is what is also emphasized by the Second
Vatican Council's constitution on the sacred liturgy,
which affirms: "The Church, by an apostolic tradition, which has its origin in the same day of the
resurrection of Christ, celebrates the paschal mystery every eight days, on the day that is called with
reason 'Day of the Lord' or Sunday" ("Sacrosanctum Concilium," No. 106).
The evangelist also recalls that in both apparitions the Lord Jesus showed the disciples the
signs of the crucifixion, very visible and tangible
also in his glorious body (cf. John 20:20,27). Those
sacred wounds, in the hands, the feet and the side,
are an inexhaustible source of faith, hope and love
in which each one can drink, especially souls most
thirsty of Divine Mercy.
In consideration of this, the Servant of God
John Paul II, valuing the spiritual experience of a
humble religious, St. Faustina Kowalska, wanted
the Sunday after Easter to be dedicated in a special way to divine mercy, and providence disposed
that he should die precisely on the vigil of that day
(in the hands of Divine Mercy).
The mystery of the merciful love of God was
at the center of the pontificate of my venerated
predecessor. Let us recall, in particular, the encyclical "Dives in Misericordia" of 1980, and the dedication of the new shrine of Divine Mercy in Krakow,
in 2002.
The words he pronounced on that last occasion were as a synthesis of his magisterium, evidencing that devotion to Divine Mercy is not a secondary, but an integral dimension of a Christian's
faith and prayer.

Prayer for Third Sunday of Easter
Father in heaven, author of all truth, a people once in
darkness has listened to your Word and followed your
Son as He rose from the tomb. Hear the prayer of this
newborn people and strengthen your Church to answer
your call. May we rise and come forth into the light of
day to stand in your presence until eternity dawns. We
ask this through Christ our Lord.

May Mary most holy, Mother of the Church,
whom we now address with the Regina Caeli, obtain for
all Christians to live in fullness, Sunday, as the "Week's
Easter," relishing the beauty of the encounter with the
risen Lord and drinking from the source of His merciful
love, to be apostles of His peace.

Our Lord’s words “This is my body, This is my blood,” are no mere image or metaphor. We believe that, in
the celebration of the Eucharist, the bread and wine - our gifts - are truly changed into the Body and Blood of
Our Lord, without any change in their visible outward appearance. We believe that, in the Sacrament of the
Eucharist,“the body and blood, together with the soul and divinity, of our Lord Jesus Christ and, therefore,
the whole Christ is truly, really, and substantially contained.” {Council of Trent[1545-1563]-*1374}
