Work sample summary
This task requires the student to write an article for the local Italo-australian newspaper, ‘il Globo’ answering the
question ‘How much does the Italian contribution count towards the history of this country?’ The student was
required to respond in approximately 75-100 words. The task forms part of the assessment for Unit 3AITA and was
completed in semester one.
The strengths of this article are the organisation of information and development of ideas relating to the contribution
of Italians to Australia. While vocabulary and sentence structures are appropriate and correct, some basic rules of
grammar and punctuation are applied inconsistently when manipulating complex sentences. The student has
produced an article which meets the requirements of the task.
