Let’s see if one of our very own will win a $30,000 college scholarship in this year’s Doodle 4 Google National Contest! Information for students, families and after-school groups: Google, Inc. runs an annual logo design contest for students in grades k-12. Students are given the challenge to design a Google logo based around a specified theme. This year’s theme is: If I could travel in time, I’d visit…. What an incredible theme to imagine, dream and learn about a place close by or far, far away! Please take the time to read all contest information at http://www.google.com/doodle4google/ as there are some MAJOR changes to the contest this year. This year, you should download an entry form and send it in on your own. There is NO REGISTRATION number to fill in, just consent forms. Who: ALL k-12 BEAR TAVERN STUDENTS What: Doodle for Google 2012 entry and chance to win a $30,000 college scholarship Where: At home or with an after-school group Important Note: All 4th and 5th grade students will complete geographical research in the computer lab and complete an entry in art class. 4th and 5th graders need not complete a second entry at home! When: START NOW. You must send in your own entry and consent form (see attached) and it must be postmarked by March 20th at the very latest. 4th and 5th grade entries completed in school will be mailed via certified mail by the school. Materials: Use paints, watercolors, markers, you name it! Please utilize the following brainstorm web to make sure you are connecting your overall theme/BIG IDEA to concrete illustrations/images so that when the judges see your entry, they know EXACTLY where you are time traveling to. Look at past entries http://www.google.com/doodles/finder/2012/All%20doodles to see how the images are used in place of some of the letters in the Google name or how images are drawn INTO the letters!
