TWENTY-EIGHTH SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME - OCTOBER 12, 2014 A.D.
Recently Deceased
Words from Fr. Andrew continued from page 3
Prayer to the Holy Family
for the Synod
Jesus, Mary and Joseph,
in you we contemplate
the splendour of true love,
to you we turn with trust.
Holy Family of Nazareth,
grant that our families too
may be places of communion and prayer,
authentic schools of the Gospel
and small domestic Churches.
Holy Family of Nazareth,
may families never again
experience violence, rejection and division:
may all who have been hurt or scandalized
find ready comfort and healing.
Holy Family of Nazareth,
may the Synod of Bishops
make us once more mindful
of the sacredness and inviolability of the family,
and its beauty in God’s plan.
Jesus, Mary and Joseph,
graciously hear our prayer.
Amen.
It’s that time of year to look ahead to 2015 Travel Plans.
How about taking in Prague, Budapest and Vienna as
well as a scenic cruise along the Danube River - known
as “the Imperial Cities of Central Europe.” Eleven days,
fourteen meals, plenty of time to explore and enjoy August 24-September 3, 2015! Sign up now for Early
Bird Booking and save $200 per person. Limited to 44
persons. Open to all persons, not just Parish members.
A special Travel Presentation will be held, Monday,
November 3rd in the Family Center at 6:30 p.m. with Ed
McKenna of Collette Vacations.
As of this week, the Pilgrimage to the Holy Land is still on
for March, 2015 - things are settling down and the climate
is conducive to pilgrims. If interested, please give me a
call. Like Jesus said to Andrew when Andrew asked
Jesus, “Sir, where do you live?’ Jesus said, “Come and
see!”
Seeing is believing !!

registrations at the STJ P.R.E.P. office. * The $10 per
child discount ended October 1st. You do not need to pay
at the time of registration to enroll your child in one of our
classes.
Blessed Sacrament P.R.E.P. is in need of a 3rd grade
classroom aide. You would be assisting the catechist
with arts and crafts and other classroom activities. It is
rewarding to be able to be part of the faith journey of our
young boys and girls. Your presence in the classroom
would give the students yet another positive role model to
emulate. If interested call or e-mail Gail Fielder.

Attention Readers and Extraordinary
Eucharistic Ministers: – The new schedules for
10/4 thru 11/9/14 are on line and in the racks. Be sure
mark your calendar for the days that you are scheduled to
serve.
To All Potential Readers and
Extraordinary Eucharistic Ministers:
I am searching for those fully initiated parishioners (That
means that you have received the Sacraments of Baptism,
Confirmation and the Eucharist) who would like to
participate in the Mass by serving their fellow parishioners,
especially at the 7:30 am and 5:00 pm Masses. I will be
doing training sessions for readers and EMs’ in the near
future and would love to include YOU in the program! If you
are part of the Youth Program and have been confirmed,
you can participate. Are you new to the parish and looking
for a way to meet people? There are brochures in the
Gathering Space on the northeast side of the brochure
rack. They explain in more detail what being a Reader or
Extraordinary Eucharistic Minister is all about. Also, on the
website, www.stjohndavison.org, under schedules, are
detailed instructions that you can read about being either a
reader or an extraordinary minister of Holy Communion. .

Funeral Thank You
I would like to thank Fr. Andrew for the beautiful Memorial
for my mom, Martha Lloyd, even with the delay he was
concerned and caring. Thank you, Julie and Mark Richards
for your music, it was beautiful and my mom would have
loved it. Thanks to Liz and Jim Marshall and their crew for
making sure the meal was wonderful, it was. We are so
blessed to be a part of St. John Parish.
