Dorchester Notes October, 2014 Sorry to have been off the internet for so long but life keeps getting in the way as Bill and I both fit in some travel and enjoy more time with family and friends. The Dorchester Calendar also includes activities of local nonprofits such as the Grange Dorchester Select Board continues to meets every two weeks on Thursday evenings October 9 and 23 at 6:30pm in the Town Hall. Current Select Board members are Sherman Hallock (Chairperson), Artie Burdette and Maria Weick. All members of the public are reminded that Select Board meetings are open and all are welcome to observe. However, public input is limited to specific times set aside by Chairman. Dorchester Historic District and Heritage Commission will meet May 6 at 7pm Cemetery Committee meets quarterly or as needed. The next meeting will be Tuesday, October 7 at 6pm in the Town Hall. This Beginner/Gentle Yoga class through the Mascoma Valley Parks & Recreation. This 5 Week Yoga Series will be held at the Indian River School in Canaan, NH (behind Mascoma High School) on Mondays from 3:45 - 4:45 pm. This series is ideal for beginners and those wanting to reconnect with the basics of their practice. This slower paced class will also serve as an introduction to the fundamentals of yoga to help you gain the confidence, strength and flexibility needed to further your practice. Students will explore basic standing and seated postures, learn proper breathing techniques, and correct alignment and relaxation methods. Cost & Days Offered: These classes will be offered Monday from 3:45 - 4:45 pm at Indian River School in Canaan, NH starting Monday, October 20th. The cost is $60 for all 5 sessions or $12 to drop in. $55 for students and seniors (age 60 and older). The classes will be held in the Music Room at Indian River School. How do I enroll? Drop-Ins will be welcome at the rate of $12 per class as long as we don't max out. What do I need to bring? You will be required to bring your own yoga mat. Wear comfortable clothing and water. Thursday, October 15th, Cooking through the Seasons Every third Thursday of the month, Regina opens the beautiful D Acres' kitchen to welcome folks who are interested in learning more about cooking with seasonal ingredients. This casual workshop will take participants everywhere, from the root cellar to the garden, seeing what's on hand to create a delicious seasonal menu.
