TRIUMPH OF THE CROSS — PARISH COMMUNITY NEWS
—- Our next DONUT SUNDAY will be held in the Holy Rosary Auditorium on October 19th following the 8:30, 10:00 and
11:30 AM Masses. Please join our parish family in mingling with old friends and making new ones!
OCTOBER COUNT: During the month of October, if you
notice the ushers act as if they are counting the number of
people attending Mass, that is what they are doing. Each
year throughout the Diocese this count takes place. Such
information demonstrates the number of registered Catholics attending Mass. Have you ever heard reports that less
than 50% attend Mass each week. This is the information
for calculating the percentage. Also, it helps determine
how many Masses are needed according to the seating
capacity of the church, etc.
“BE BRAVE!” Fundraiser Dance : Come support the
Urban Underground Ministry! The dance has been rescheduled for Saturday, October 18th from 7-11pm at
Holy Family’s Malara Hall. Admittance Fee: is $5 per person. Clothing: Causal—Jeans are fine. Leggings are not
permitted as pants. No tube tops or backless shirts.
Please reply ASAP to [email protected] We need to
have an idea of how much to provide in snack/drinks. To

RCIA INVITATION: Our gatherings for RCIA have begun. However, since this is a journey, you are most welcome to join with us. We meet on Thursday evenings in
the Marian Room (202 Rosemont Ave.) at 7:00 p.m.
These gatherings take place each Thursday evening. If
you have any questions please contact Fr. Nau at
[email protected].
ROSARY FOR OUR COUNTRY: On Thursday, October
23rd at 7:00 p.m. in Catholic Central High School, Lanman
Hall. Prayer and intercession are very needed at this crucial time in our country. We must come together in prayer
to save our religious liberty. Every state will be prayed for.
CHILDREN’S LITURGY OF THE WORD – 10:00 A.M.
MASS: TOTC is going to be doing Children’s Liturgy of the
Word. While every parish does it differently, the premise is
to provide for little ones (for us it will be Kindergarten &
First Grade) at Mass the readings, Gospel and homily in a
different setting (for us it will be the Holy Rosary Auditorium) to hear a child-friendly Gospel explanation. Children
return at the offertory. This is a great way for children to
hear and really understand the readings but it is not bible
school. We will not be doing coloring sheets but simply
listening to the readings from a Lectionary made just for
children. We will begin doing this one Sunday a month.
Our first Mass will be October 12 @ 10 am. We are very
excited for this unique opportunity to minister to our
youth!
AMANDA LOOMAN MEMORIAL BENEFIT: To be held
on Sunday, October 26th from Noon to 4:00 p.m. at
Blessed Sacrament Church, Sargus Hall at 852 Main St.,
Wintersville. Donations will be taken at the door. All proceeds will go to the Amanda Looman Memorial Scholarship
Fund at Franciscan University of Steubenville. Pasta Dinner, Raffle, Silent Auction. Items include: Gift Certificates,
Gift Baskets, Penguins Tickets, Week Getaway in a 3 bedroom condo in Ixtapa, Mexico (airfare not incl.) & More!
Franciscan Sisters T.O.R. - All Soul’s Mass: Everyone
is welcome to attend an All Souls Mass on Sunday, November 2, 2014 at 10:00am at Father of Mercy Chapel
located at 369 Little Church Road, Toronto, Ohio 43964.
Please know our love for you and our desire to be united
with you in praying for your beloved deceased through the
month of November. Beginning on All Souls Day, Nov. 2 nd
the following will be offered: Mass at Father of Mercy
Chapel, Divine Mercy Chaplet Novena, and a daily Prayer
for Our Beloved Deceased. We invite you to send us the
names of your beloved deceased who we will honor
through a candlelight procession during the All Souls Mass
and we will remember them in prayer during the month of
November. To submit names of your beloved deceased,
please see our website at: www.FranciscanSistersTOR.org

Family Church Catholic Women's Club on Sunday, October 12th from 2:00pm – 5:00pm at Holy Family’s Malara

WORLD MISSION SUNDAY: Next weekend (October
18/19) our parish will celebrate World Mission Sunday.
This year we are invited to reach out and help build the
Church in Mongolia, the world’s youngest Catholic Church,
as well as local churches throughout the Missions, in the
most remote areas across our world. Through the work of
these churches, and their witness to Christ, the poor receive practical help and experience God’s love and mercy,
His hope and peace. Please keep the Missions in your daily
prayers. In the bulletin is a letter from Bishop Monforton
and the special envelope to be used for your contribution.

INTERNATIONAL ART EXHIBIT: Selected works from
the One Faith: East and West, an international art exhibition featuring contemporary artists working in the Christian tradition, will be on display in Franciscan University's
Tony and Nina Gentile Gallery, J.C. Williams Center for the
month of October. Curated by Jennifer Healy, adjunct professor of Fine Arts at Franciscan University's study-abroad
program in Austria, the exhibit has traveled from New York
City to Franciscan University. Plans are currently underway
to send the exhibition on to Beijing and Moscow. The
groundbreaking exhibition will include approximately 30
works by artists from numerous countries in both the Eastern and Western traditions. "These works of art have the
power to communicate to today's society in a way that is
fresh, engaging, and relevant," says Healy. "The timeless
Truth of the faith is effectively conveyed through images,
for both believers and unbelievers alike." Featured in the
exhibit are "Bust of Mary" and "St. Joseph" by
Carl Fougerousse '98, and paintings "Holy Family" by
Clemens Fuchs, and "Overshadowed 5" by Franciscan University art professor, Linus Meldrum. The exhibition is organized by the Language and Catechetical Institute located
at the Kartause Maria Thron in Gaming, Austria. All net
proceeds from sales of the works will fund scholarships for
students from Eastern Europe, China, and Russia. While
the event is on display, exhibition participant Carl Fougerousse, painter, sculptor, and stained glass artist, will give a
lecture on Catholic art on Oct. 22 at 7:00 p.m. in the gallery. The exhibition will be on view during select hours until the end of the month on Thursday, Oct. 9, 11 a.m. – 2
p.m. and 4 p.m. – 8 p.m.; Wednesday, Oct. 15, 11 a.m. –
2 p.m. and 4 – 8 p.m.; Thursday, Oct. 23, 4 – 8 p.m.; and
Wednesday, Oct. 29, 11 a.m. – 2 p.m. Learn more and

CONGRATULATIONS!
CONDOLENCES
(CCC 1227) “According to the Apostle Paul, the
believer enters through Baptism into communion
with Christ’s death, is buried with him, and rises
with him
Remember to pray for our newly baptized who
have entered into the Body of Christ;
(CCC 1405) “There is no surer pledge or clearer
sign of this great hope in the new heavens and
new earth ‘in which righteousness dwells,’ than the
Eucharist. Every time this mystery is celebrated,
‘the work of our redemption is carried on’ and we
‘break the one bread that provides the medicine of
immortality, the antidote for death, and the food
that makes us live forever in Jesus Christ.’” With
this great hope we pray for our brother who has
died:
Zoie Marie Zumpano
James Lamatrice, 61, October 4
…The baptized have ‘put on Christ.’
Through the Holy Spirit, Baptism is a bath that
purifies, justifies, and sanctifies.”’
Child of Thomas Zumpano & Jennifer Downs
May he enjoy the eternal banquet the Lord has
prepared for him.
May he “put on Christ, as he becomes a member
of the church.”
