Bentley Technical Support How to migrate PS user settings Problem: With a change of the ProSteel version the user settings can’t be migrated automatically. Solution: The user has to migrate the necessary files himself. During the work with ProStructures/ ProSteel several user settings and templates are created consciously or unconsciously that you might want to use in a later ProSteel version as well. The first useful step is to save the previous installation folder separately (e.g. different device). The relevant folders you find in the installation path by default: C:\Program Files\Bentley\...followed by the version name: …\ProSteel 3D Version 18.0 …\ProSteel V8i 8.11.00.00 …\ProStructure V8i SELECT Series 1 …\ProStructures V8i SELECT Series 2/ 3/ 4 Then follows the activated AutoCAD-Version; the present PS-versions use AutoCAD 2007-2011. Thereafter the actual programinstallation begins. Here are named important folders containing templates of daily use that are helpful to remain. Depending on your way working you’ll find them in folder METRIC or IMPERIAL: Temp: Here are stored the masks contents and positions in *.sve-files; if this folder is empty ProSteel will go back to default adjustments. Varia: Here are stored all of the personal templates from various dialogues in *.tpl-files, also the important templates for the positionflag distribution. Localised\<Language>\Styles: Here are stored all different userspecific styles ordered by topics like Bolt-, Detail-, Elevationflag-, HoleDisplay-, PosFlag-, WeldStyle. The DetailStyles stored in *stx-files may be of special interest and have to be adjusted for a later ProSteelversion: 1. Save the delivered DetailStyles of the later version in a separated folder. 2. Create a DWG within the older ProSteel version and import all DetailStyles of this version into this file by using the 2D Center/ tab Parts/ upper window/ context menue/ Load All Styles. 3. Open this DWG in the later installed PS version, open the 2D Center and reimport the DetailStyles in the same manner by using Save all Styles; by this method you convert the older DetailStyles to new ones and store them on your hard disk. 1 Bentley Systems Inc 2010 ProStructures Bentley Technical Support How to migrate PS user settings Moreover the following folders might be of importance: Folder Data with it’s subfolders Bolts/ CombiShapes/ Plates/ RoofWall/ Shapes/ UserShapes/ WeldShapes: here might be stored various selfcreated data of shapes, plates and bolts. …\Shapes: Exchangefiles for STAAD.Pro and SDNF (*.exm) Localised\<Language>… …\UserBlocks: Selfcreated ProSteel blocks ...\Data: Prostructurematerial.mdb: Selfcreated materials …\PartList: Selfcreated templates for lists (*.lst) …\Format: Selfcreated drawingframes ,*.frm- (frame-) and *.tra- (translation-) files. 2 Bentley Systems Inc 2010 ProStructures
