the innovative and

Spotlight on Hale’s New Educators
Hale Area Schools would
like to take a minute to
introduce some of our new
faculty. We are happy to
welcome them as they offer
a variety of experience and
bring many exciting skills to
the staff here at Hale. We
also thank them for joining
our team and look forward
to an exciting 2014-2015
school year.
First, Mrs. Kathryn Jagelewski is our new special
education teacher. She
graduated from Saginaw
Valley State University and
has been teaching for six
years. She said, “I am very
excited to meet new people
and to having a great year”.
We know Mrs. Jagelewski is
a great addition to our staff
and will be a great asset to
the already phenomenal
special education department we have in place.
Next, Mr. Chris Jagelewski
comes to us with nine years
of teaching experience and
is also a graduate of SVSU.
He will be taking over the
duties in our PE department
as well as teaching the
health courses. In addition
to, being the head coach
of the JV football team. Mr.
Mrs. Jagelewski
Mr. Jagelewski
Ms. Smillie
Jagelewski had this to say
when asked what he likes
to do, “I love spending time
with my wife two daughters
and the rest of our extended
family. I spend my free time
hunting, fishing, and barbecuing.” This blends well with
the interests of many people
from Northern Michigan and
should assist him in building
relationships with students.
Finally, Ms. Katherine Smillie will be one of our math
teachers in both the middle
school and high school
departments. She is another
graduate of SVSU. While this
is her first position teaching
full time, she comes from
a family of teachers. Both
her mother and father were
teachers and this will be a
great asset to her success
here in Hale. Ms. Smillie told
me she and her team were
State Volleyball Champions,
so we know she is a team
player and will do what it
takes to be successful. Ms.
Smillie is a welcome addition
to our Hale team.
Again thank you to
our new staff members
for sharing your skills and
excitement to Hale. We look
forward to continue growing
as a school. All of our staff
here at Hale also deserves
a special thank you. We as
a unified team will continue
to show the community our
commitment to our students,
and our belief that “All students will learn”.
School Board to Address
the Community
We invite you to join us on
October 20th at 7:00p.m.
The Hale Area School Board
and Administration will be at
the Community Center for
a presentation and Q & A.
The topics to be discussed
during the 30 minute presentation will be finances of the
district, technology plans
and improvements, and student achievement. This will
be followed by a 30 minute
question and answer session.
We ask that all who attend
understand the intent of this
evening to update you and
talk about the success of our
students. We want to keep
it a courteous and informative evening for all. We hope
to see you there as we take
a few minutes to celebrate
Hale Area Schools achievements and how far we’ve
come as a community and
school district in the past few
years.
