Welcome to West Highland!
Thank you for worshipping with us!
ARE YOU A GUEST TODAY?

Welcome to West Highland where our
doors are wide open to people from all
backgrounds, regardless of where they
are from or where they’re at on their spiritual journey.
One of the things we try to avoid more than anything else in life is
conflict. We find it distasteful. Our revulsion to conflict carries
over into our spiritual life as well. We want to follow Jesus
without conflict. We want to grow spiritually and avoid conflict at
the same time. But this is impossible. Conflict is part of life.
Conflict is part of the Christian life. Christ’s followers run into
conflict every day.
God’s work in and through the local church can also be a place of
conflict. Churches are lights shining in darkened communities so
we should not be surprised that the darkness will try to extinguish
the light. As we work together with God as a team we can expect
to encounter push back from the kingdom of darkness. Building
and battling go hand in hand. Work and warfare go together.
This is what Nehemiah experienced from the outset of his work to
rebuild Jerusalem’s walls. From his story in chapters 4 and 6 – the
focus of today’s message – there are valuable principles and
lessons about Christian life and service for us to learn today. The
conflict he encountered sheds light on what we can expect. We
too must Build in the Midst of Conflict.
Committed to seeking Him and making His Word fully known.
