Library News
Your child will be participating in the
Accelerated Reading program this year.
AR is a computer program that helps
teachers manage and monitor children’s
independent reading practice. Your child
picks a book at his/her own level
(determined by the STAR reading test)
and reads it at his/her own pace. When
finished, your child takes a short quiz on
the computer. (Passing the quiz is an
indication that your child understood
what was read.) AR gives both children
and their teachers feedback based on the
quiz results. Begin with the end in mind
and set your Accelerated Reader goals
early.

The Scholastic Book Fair will be at Memorial Elementary from Oct. 27-31st.
Parents are welcome to shop with their child after school.
Students may purchase items during their scheduled library time.
We will be open extended hours on Tuesday, October 28th during
Parent Conference Night.
All students are responsible for the library
books that are checked out to them. Any
book lost or damaged must be paid for so
we can replace it. Be proactive and find
out when your student’s library day is so
you can help them care for their books
and return them on time.
Florida State Statute 1012.42 recognizes that teachers
at times must be assigned duties in a subject outside
the field in which the teacher is certified. The following
teachers at Memorial Elementary School are certified,
but may be assigned one or more classes outside their
areas of certification and are required to take appropriate steps to comply with the statutory regulation.
