The DG visits our club
We welcomed DG Murray Verso and Irene to our club. Murray spoke about the
meaning of Rotary. What enthuses and motivates him and the great work done
within our district and in partiuclar he noted the work that our club does. It was
an inspiring talk. Prior to Murray commencing his talk, club members Linn, Keiran,
Grant, Ruth, Lisa, Margie, Noelle and Anthony each briefly described what Rotary
means to them. There were a variety of responses but all highlighted the great
work done by Rotary and the commitment that each of us has to be part of this
amazing organisation.
It was great to see Anne Jobson and also Kit at the meeting. We welcomed Bob
Neild from the RC Canberra Sunrise who was in Melbourne visting family. Anne
won the front desk raffle and Neil had an oppoortunity to win the card raffle.

Garden DesignFest 2014
Thank you to all those members who have volunteered to assist on the 15th & 16th
of November. We will be managing a garden in Margarita St Hampton so
rememeber to publicise the event to your friends and family, the more people that
attend the more money raised for the nominated charities and for our club!
Details of the gardens open are available on the following website.

Christmas Hampers
All Souls Church in Sandringham collects food each week but leading up to
Christmas they are in an urgent need of non perishable food and toys. These
goods are then donated to BayCISS (Sandringham), Dixon House (Anglicare) and
the Asylum Seekers Centre in Dandenong. The food and toys will be distributed
locally and in surrounding suburbs. It would be great if our Rotarians can assist
Noelle with donations. There will be a box available at our meetings over the next
6 – 7 weeks, all you have to do is bring an item or two along and drop it into the
box. All types of non perishable food items are acceptable including Christmas
items. Any queries please contact Noelle.
Birthday greetings
A belated Happy Birthday for the 5th October to John Wheller and to club friend
and former member Pete Jensen.

What a great atmosphere, fun, smiles, and joking all round. Those from the
club in attendance included Chris & Wendy Fletcher, Keiran, Grant & Glenda,
Linn & John M, Anne Jobson & Richard, Anne H, Ruth, Kit and Noelle.
We enjoyed some very good scone/fruit teacakes for morning tea and lunch
was a great sausage sizzle by Linn and John. Desserts and fruit were provided
by the two Annes’.
We completed about eight pallets, packing jumpers, shirts, shorts, polos,
puffer jackets etc. Some people from the Kakadu team helped us out.

Simon Conquest
The Rotary movement was founded in
February 1905, by Paul Harris, a lawyer
from Chicago, who recognized the
potential of an association of like-minded
professional and business people who
could meet and share common interests
on a regular basis.
In 1957, the Rotary Foundation launched
the Paul Harris Fellowship in memory of
the founder as an expression of
appreciation for those who have
contributed
to
the
Foundation's
humanitarian and educational programs.
A contribution of US $1,000 is made to
the Rotary Foundation in the name of
each individual to be honoured. The
recipients receive a pin, medallion and
certificates that identify them as
advocates of the Foundation's goals of
world peace and understanding.
After more than fifty years, recognition as
a Paul Harris Fellow remains a respected
and prestigious honour for Rotarians and
non-Rotarians alike.
The bulletin editor wishes to thank Ruth for the report and Ruth and Grant for
their photos.

FOUR WAY TEST
Of the things we think, say or do:
1. Is it the TRUTH?
2. Is it FAIR to all
concerned?
3. Will it build GOODWILL
and BETTER FRIENDSHIPS?
4. Will it be BENEFICIAL
to all concerned?
