The class

Next Chapter Kansas City news for October:
For those of you who enjoy reading and discussing books,
our selection for October’s Next Chapter book group is a nonfiction book titled Leisureville: Adventures in a
World Without Children by Andrew Blechman. A review by Library Journal, notes that the book is "Intriguing,
appalling, but always engaging. Blechman thoroughly and with good humor delves into the largely American,
and growing, phenomenon of gated, age-segregated communities. . . Highly recommended."
The book group is co-sponsored by the Kansas City Kansas Public Library and meets at the South Branch
Library from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. on the fourth Tuesday of the month, which is October 28 this month. This book
is not widely available, but KCKPL ordered four copies for us that have arrived and are ready for check out.
There are also a few copies of the original hardback version in area libraries under the title of Leisureville:
Adventures in America's Retirement Utopias.
Our monthly Informational/Networking Forum will be held at the Donnelly College Community Event Center
on Thursday, October 23 from 6 to 7:30 p.m.
ALIGNING PASSION AND PURPOSE
This 2-part class will be held from 9am to noon on Wednesdays, November 5 and 12 at Welborn Community
Church, 5217 Leavenworth Rd. The cost is $20 or $10 for Next Chapter Kansas City members.
Also, plans are under way for an Encore Entrepreneur Conference in early December for persons ages 50+
who may be interested in starting their own business.
For more information on any of our Next Chapter activities, call the office at 913-281-8908 or email Karen
