This Month at St John’s
October
A warm welcome to everyone worshipping at St John’s this
month, where we hold the following Sunday Services:
8.00-8.45 am Holy Communion
A quiet service in the side chapel without music.
10.45-12.00 am Holy Communion
There is a break-out area at the back of church for small children; Sunday
Club takes place in all services except the Family Service. It’s for 5-14 year
olds and has informal teaching and worship. Feel free to stay for all or part
of the club with your children.
10.45-12.00 am All Age Service
(2nd Sunday of the month)
Lively worship for everyone with a high degree of involvement.
6.30-7.30 pm Evening Prayer
A time for reflection and meditation with music and readings.
You are welcome to join us for refreshments after the 10.45 service on
Sundays.
St John’s has a loop induction hearing system and large format service sheets
and hymn books.
Donations made using the Gift-Aid scheme envelopes are increased by 20% when used by taxpayers.
All services and other activities take place in St John’s Church unless stated
otherwise.

Carers and Tots is on hold until after the refurbishment.
7.45 - 9.15 pm Making Sense of God
A philosophy group with a themed discussion. You don’t need any philosophical background, only an interest to find out more. On the other hand, if
you have some philosophical background already, expect these sessions to be
a bit different from what you might be familiar with. Meets at

Thursday 9 October
3.30 - 5.30 pm Messy Church
One hour of messy crafts - lots of messy stuff to do, a time to eat together
and a celebration in church. All children accompanied by an adult welcome.

3.00 pm Hats and Huts.
An illustrated talk about the ladies of the YMCA Women’s Auxiliary on the
Western Front in the Great War. This is the extraordinary story of women
volunteers in difficult and daunting times. Many of these women had presided over drawing rooms of society but when the war started they left the com-
forts of home and travelled to the front. At Heaton Mersey United Church,
Stanley Rd. Heaton Moor .
