Warley Deanery Synod Events
The next meeting of Warley Deanery Synod will be held at
7.30pm on Thursday 23 October at St James Church, Lion
Farm. This will include the Diocesan Roadshow to promote
the new ‘Growing Younger’ initiative. This wil be an open
synod and all are invited to attend, not just synod reps.
Deanery Quiet Day
Will be held on Saturday 29 November at Holy Trinity
Church, Smethwick from 10.00am—2.00pm.
Deanery Pilgrimage to Birmingham Cathedral
This is part of a year of special events to celebrate the 300th
anniversary of St Philip’s Cathedral and is on Saturday 28
February 2015.
Everyone is welcome to attend these special events. More
details will be available soon.

Bright Party
This year’s Bright Party will be on Friday 31 October from
6.00pm-8.00pm at St Mark’s . We need lots of volunteers to
help with refreshments, registration, crafts, games and
working with children. We’d love you to join the team, if
you are able. For more information please speak to Julie,
Nick or Louise.
Knitting a sheep
We are rapidly approaching advent and this year we are
again doing a posada (Mary and Joseph’s search for lodging). We will need a flock of about 24 sheep so we can
leave one with those who take in the Holy Family. If you
can knit and would like to help us get our flock together,
please contact Julie for the pattern.

St John’s Scouts Bonfire and Fireworks Night
St John’s Scouts are holding their bonfire and fireworks
night at St John’s Community Centre on Tuesday 4
November. The fire will be lit at 6.30pm with fireworks
at 7.00pm, entry is £3.00 adults and £2.00 for children/
concessions. Food and hot drinks will be available.
Money saving and Skills-sharing Taster day.
Chris Florance writes ‘We are planning a ‘Money Saving
and Skills sharing taster day for 8 November at St John’s.’
It is a day where people can come and learn and/or
share a skill. There will short 10 minute skill sharing opportunities, ranging from ‘Sewing on a button’(Mending
clothes) to ‘Using the internet to save money’ and
‘Savvier Shopping’. There will also be information on
general money saving and where to go to get money and
debt advice.
Can you feed a family of four for £3.00? If you have any
recipes to feed a family a nourishing meal on a budget,
please let us have them for our Money Saving and Skills
sharing Day. We will then make a recipe booklet to give
out on the day.
