Project Requirements
 Only CA-generated waste tires
 Minimum 500 tons of TDA materials
 The project must represent a new category of activity at the
project’s facility/location
 Landfill projects must not use more than 0.5 ton of TDA per
lineal foot of landfill gas collection or leachate injection system
 Plans and specifications are subject to review by CalRecycle’s
engineering staff
 Technical assistance/training will be provided by CalRecycle
contractors and/or staff

Rubberized Pavement Grants
(formerly called RAC Grants)
Due to the passage of AB 513 (Frazier), the grant
program will change for the FY 2014/15 solicitation
AB 513
 Directs CalRecycle to provided a RAC grant program
 Adds state and local park districts as eligible entities
 Changes reimbursement to a fixed dollar amount
o $2 per 12 pounds of crumb rubber (+ or -)
 Adds disability access and Class 1 bikeways as eligible projects

If Budget Change Proposal is approved, an
additional $5 million will be added for a total $8
million.

Project Requirements*
 Only CA-generated waste tires, final product produced in CA
 Binder Material must contain a minimum of 300 pounds
(equivalent to 15% by weight) of tire-derived crumb rubber per ton
of rubberized binder
 RAC Overlay: Projects must use a minimum of 3,500 tons of RAC
 Chip Seal: Projects must use a minimum area of 35,000 square
yards of RAC Chip Seal material
 Technical assistance/training will be provided by CalRecycle
contractors and/or staff
