ATENEUMIN TAIDEMENU CASA LARGOSSA ATENEUM’S ART MENU AT CASA LARGO 11.10.2013–9.2.2014 Järven lumo – Tuusulanjärven taiteilijayhteisö On the Shores of the Lake – Tuusula Artist Community TUUSULANJÄRVEN TAITEILIJAYHTEISÖ / TUUSULA ARTIST COMMUNITY Tuusulanjärven itärannalle syntyi 1900-luvun taitteessa taiteilijayhteisö, joka oli kooltaan pieni mutta merkitykseltään suuri. Yhteisön viidessä huvilassa asui ja työskenteli useita suomalaisen kulttuurielämän keskeisiä edustajia perheineen: kirjailija Juhani Aho taiteilijavaimonsa Venny Soldan-Brofeldtin kanssa, säveltäjä Jean Sibelius, taidemaalarit Eero Järnefelt ja Pekka Halonen sekä runoilija J. H. Erkko. Järven lumo -näyttelyssä sukelletaan poikkeuksellisen taiteilija- ja ystäväpiirin elämään ja taiteeseen sekä kulttuurisesti ja poliittisesti mielenkiintoiseen aikaan. Näyttely valottaa taiteilijakotien arkea ja juhlaa, lasten elämää ja monipuolisesti lahjakkaiden puolisoiden merkittävää roolia osana yhteisöä. Perheet ja arki olivat vahvasti läsnä taiteellisessa työssä. Around the turn of the 20th century, an artist community formed on the eastern shore of Lake Tuusula. Small in size but great in significance, this community, five villas in all, was made up of leading representatives of Finnish cultural life who had moved to live and work there with their families: the author Juhani Aho and his artist wife Venny Soldan-Brofeldt, the composer Jean Sibelius, the painters Eero Järnefelt and Pekka Halonen, and the poet J. H. Erkko. The exhibition “On the Shores of the Lake” dives into the life and art of this exceptional circle of artists and friends at a time that was fascinating both politically and culturally. It sheds light on everyday life and beyond in the artist homes; on how life was for the children, and what an important role the multitalented spouses played as members of the community.
