Director’s Corner:
The first quarter of the school year went by successfully. The
students worked diligently and adjusted to their schedules, friends, and
teachers. First quarter report cards will be handed out on Thursday, October
9th. This report is an evaluation of your child’s progress at his/her particular
grade level. Grades are based on progress, taking into account for
individual background and aptitude. Parent/teacher conferences are scheduled during the week of October 13th.
All teachers, preschool to elementary, will send notices as to when parents may meet with them. This is a great
opportunity for both parents and teachers to discuss and support the children’s academic as well as social
performances.
Now that the Fall season is here, we can’t help but think of the approaching holidays. This month
specifically, children look forward to our Halloween carnival. This event is happening on campus in the
morning on Friday, October 31st, Halloween Day. The schedule for the day will be provided in the near future.
Tradition continues for our parents to volunteer and make this activity the best social experience for all Page
students and families.
The Fall fundraiser event, our iJog for Technology, was a great success. All the students had fun
running, jogging, and walking with friends to raise funds. Proceeds from this event will benefit all our students,
as they will go towards purchasing 3 laptops, 1 Promethean Board (smart board), 6 television sets and DVD
players, and 10 LeapFrog tablets. Your help and generous contribution will be greatly appreciated and best of
all, will benefit your children to enhance their academic program.
Sincerely,
Connie Rivera, Director

The Junior Kinder Staff
Kindergarten Stars
We have made it through the first quarter and are off to a great start in the second quarter. Kinder students continue
to do an amazing job both academically and socially. They are also doing a wonderful job learning and practicing
their sight words. Keep earning those “sight word scoops” Kinder! This month, we will begin our reading logs. As
our class begins to learn how to read, it is important to practice everyday. I will be sending home a weekly reading
log as part of the homework. Please read with your child at home for at least 5-10 minutes everyday and don’t
forget to fill in those reading logs.
This month Kinder will also be working on the following:

All of the first graders did a wonderful job this quarter. They’ve adjusted smoothly and are also doing well with their

Last month, we started our new math curriculum - Math Expressions Common Core. Your child is learning math in
an innovative program that interweaves abstract mathematical concepts. They have adjusted to the new program.
Please continue reading for 20 minutes daily and don’t forget to log in their reading time in the reading log. The
weekly reading comprehension/fluency packet is also very helpful so please continue working with your child.
