GRATITUDE
ACTING PRESIDENT
is Our Attitude
BRUCE BELL
Gratitude is when memory is
stored in the heart and not in
the mind.
Filling in for our President Lelia Grimes in
September at Waynesville, NC, was a treat, indeed.
We had 16 rigs present, as well as the Florida ASDs
— Sherry and Ken Risber.
——————————
Ronald McDonald House, 2014
We will celebrate our 30th Anniversary in March 2015.
In September, we were host for the 50,000th person
staying with us in Knoxville. Occupancy to date in 2014
is 92%. — Sue Beverly, Director
Other than seeing the Cataloochee elk, visiting the
National Park, walking, riding bikes, shopping
downtown Waynesville, eating at Bogart's, touring
Maggie Valley, checking out the local Co-op, and
playing games in the Pride Center all weekend, there
wasn't a thing to do.

Great food. Wonderful fellowship. Thanks to our
hosts/hostesses Wagners, Warwicks, Hammonds,
and Coxes, and to Bob Morris for Sunday's devotion.

Many thanks to all who have stepped up.
Lelia Grimes presented a check for $1,637 to Ronald
McDonald House, Sept. 4th. The donation represents
100% profit from the Spring 2014 Samboree
Chinese Auction. As always, the reception was
WONDERFUL and was well attended by K-Towners.
Speaking of which, we need to say
THANKS to Johnny and Linda
Branum for taking on the Chinese
Auction. We need to be looking now for corporate
sponsors for next spring's event.
Since 2003, K-Town has contributed $13,758 to this
worthy cause.

October….the month filled with OOOH's (bad) and
AHHH's ( good). Can you think of a few?
K-Town — 2014
OOOH, it's getting colder. AHHH, grass has quit
growing. OOOH, must rake leaves.
AHHH, God's paintbrush glorifies the landscape.
OOOH, traffic to the mountains is awful. AHHH,
shorter days and less time for outside honey-do's.

Christmas decorations are in stores. OOOH, it's not
even Halloween!

For years I have wondered if Halloween is good or

line, thrown it over the house and pulled on the string
when kids come by.
Aliens invaded our car once. One driver and one
passenger. As the kids came by, I sat off the car
alarm. I even dressed as an alien and gave out travel
brochures as the parents waited on the kids to get
candy from that old witch of mine (Freida). That one
worked out well. We had half the kids the next year.
Proverbs 10:19
He who restrains his lips is wise.
New Living Translation (NLT)
Too much talk leads to sin. Be sensible and keep
your mouth shut.
Living Bible (TLB)
I'm not saying Halloween is good or bad. I'm just
saying, for me, I think it is not good, yet I play along.
The Bible says to stay away from evil or things
representing evil. Do not imitate what is evil.
Don't talk so much. You keep putting your foot in
your mouth. Be sensible and turn off the flow!
The Message (MSG)
— 3 John 1:11
The more talk, the less truth; the wise measure
their words.
——————————
Ways that I have made myself feel better about
Halloween (and safer) are simple. I have given out
Bibles, religious tracts, and such. God's Word is
never a trick, it's always a treat! A person never
knows how God could use even Halloween to bring
someone to Him.
A wise old owl sat in an oak;
The more he saw, the less he spoke;
The less he spoke, the more he heard;
Why can't we all be like that wise old bird?

Churches have bible character costume parties.
That's a great way to get kids to a safer environment,
as is a tailgate Trick-or-Treat / Trunk-or-Treat.
For an 'in-the-immediate-family' emergency / time
of crisis that requires immediate action and prayer.
So have fun this Halloween. I'll dress up as
something … maybe as Jerome. That would really
scare them.
Have a great October and a Happy Halloween, and
as it reads in Joshua 9:01:
Be strong and
courageous.
Do not be terrified; do not be
discouraged, for the LORD your God will be with
you wherever you go.
