From the Southern Region of Maule to
Australia for Business
The trade partnership between Chile and Australia was once again
consolidated earlier this month with the visit to Australia by a delegation
of 10 exporters from the Region of Maule, Chile.
The Trade Mission arrived in Sydney en route from Korea, looking to make
personal contact with importers and investigate potential opportunities for
their products in the Australian market.
From Australia's side, top ingredients suppliers, supermarkets and
wholesalers were in attendance.
The high quality export offer from Chile included; IQF frozen berries,
dehydrated fruit, fruit purees and juice concentrate, as well as organic
blueberry juice.
In 2013, Chile supplied 50% of frozen raspberries and 25% of frozen
blueberries sold in Australia.
ProChile looks forward to seeing these trade statistics increase in 2014,
thanks to initiatives and trade missions such as this one.

Functional foods and gourmet products:
Chile raises the stakes at Fine Food
Australia 2014
Chile took part in the Fine Food Australia Show, held in Melbourne from
15–18 September 2014, hosting two companies specialised in gourmet
products and functional foods: Nativ for Life and Origen Chilean Gourmet.
Nativ for Life (www.nativforlife.cl) produce organic berry powders with
diverse applications across food, beverage and cosmetics industries. These
powders are currently available in Health Food Stores across Australia.
Origen Chilean Gourmet (www.origenchileangourmet.cl) produce
premium vinegars, merken (smoked chili pepper), native honey, extra
virgin olive oils, dried fruit, nuts, sea salt and other high quality gourmet
products and condiments. Their products have received international
recognition by various gourmet publication.

Upcoming Event: Chile Wood Expo
On 16 October 2014 from 1-6pm, ProChile together with the Australian
Timber Importers Federation (ATIF), will showcase Chile's outstanding
forest products and exceptional natural resources at the inaugural Chile
Wood Expo, held at the Waterview Conference Centre, Bicentennial Drive,
Sydney Olympic Park, Sydney.
Chile exports timber to more than 150 markets worldwide and many of
their sophisticated radiata-pine based building and decorative timber
products are currently available in Australia.
Chilean timber companies and their products will be on display in addition
to short presentations, business-to-business opportunities, wine-tasting
and food with a Chilean twist.

INVESTMENT FORUM 2015
Chile's Foreign Investment Committee (CIEChile) is seeking multinational
companies looking to develop production and/or service activities in Chile
or broaden their markets to Latin America using Chile as an investment
platform to apply to participate in the Chile International Investment
Forum, 12-15 January 2015, held in Santiago, Chile.
The Chile International Investment Forum 2015 is a multi-sector summit

The new head coach of the Chilean National Rugby Team, also known as
Los Cóndores, is Australian. Chile has been playing rugby since the 1930s
and made their international rugby debut in 1936 against Los Pumas from
Argentina. Yet to qualify for a Rugby World Cup, Chile holds a solid 3rd
place in the South American Competition.
