Qualifications:
Ph.D. and experience at the Associate or “full” professor level. Candidates should
provide evidence of:
 teaching in an interdisciplinary program, with preferred expertise in ethnic
studies and/or women’s & gender studies
 ongoing research in their discipline or field
 developing curriculum, with preferred experience as director or chair of
interdisciplinary-Ethnic-Women’s-or-Gender-Studies
 inspiring a diverse group of faculty, department chairs, and community
leaders as stakeholders/shareholders of an academic program
 ongoing commitment and ability to work with ethnic-culturally-diverse
populations
Additional preferred qualifications:
 involving campus and community groups in grant writing and fundraising efforts
 applying assessment methods to program learning outcomes
Responsibilities:
Teaching load is normally 7 courses spread over three quarters. This full-time position
will include reassigned time for duties associated with consultation and development of
curriculum and outreach initiatives. (Note: CSUB will be moving to the semester
calendar in fall 2016.) The candidate will be located in the new Interdisciplinary Studies
program of the School of Arts and Humanities, with additional duties in one or more
departments depending on his or her area of expertise, which may lie either in the
School of Arts and Humanities or the School of Social Sciences and Education. The
candidate will have “retreat” rights to a department within one of these schools. The
candidate’s duties will include teaching in appropriate disciplines in the Humanities or
Social Sciences, depending on the candidate’s expertise and research interests.
Courses may be at the introductory, undergraduate, or graduate level.

permits a student to propose a
program of correlated studies
in two or more fields. We
currently offer areas of
specialization in Women's
Gender and Sexuality Studies,
Ethnic Studies, and Film
Studies.
