JOB DESCRIPTION Role Title: Senior Events Manager Department: Fundraising Role Reports to: Head of Fundraising Working Team: Head of Fundraising, Senior Events Manager, Trusts & Foundations Manager, Community Development Manager, Fundraising Officer, CKC Business Manager Direct Reports N/A Salary Up to £32,000 The job Chickenshed is recruiting a Senior Events Manager to work strategically across the organisation – managing and delivering a portfolio of exciting activities. The role will work closely with the Head of Fundraising, bringing creativity, maturity and flare to manage existing events whilst taking a proactive approach to identify new opportunities. The successful candidate will work alongside committees and event teams, as well as identifying new networks, to deliver two annual galas and a programme of new events. The post will be responsible for income in excess of £700k. The team The Fundraising team has demonstrated year-on-year growth, with aspirations and plans to continue this development. The role will provide an excellent opportunity for someone wanting to work within a dynamic team during an exciting chapter – the potholder will play a key part in our ambitions to raise £3m in 2015. Job purpose To successfully manage and lead on a portfolio of fundraising, engagement and stewardship events, coordinating all event logistics, relationship management, marketing, sales, production, sponsorship, promotion and maximising all fundraising activity To proactively seek out fundraising opportunities in a range of identified markets and industries, using knowledge and insight to strategically plan and maximise income generation Where appropriate, secure items for auction prizes, introduce a network of new supporters to events, identify suitable sponsors; managing said partners where appropriate To be responsible for the development of positive relationships and delivery of income from key stakeholders and committees Key accountabilities Working under the supervision of the Head of Fundraising the post holder be tasked with developing a strategic events programme – advising on ways to maximise revenue from existing and new events Coordinate an annual programme of fundraising events and activities – from conception to completion advising on ways to increase net contribution Research, strategise and be creative in seeking new fundraising opportunities to augment Chickenshed’s events calendar - within agreed parameters of risk Manage income and expenditure to maximise income contribution for all activities, demonstrating strong numerical and negotiation skills to deliver high performing events Work alongside key divisions within Chickenshed and externally to ensure the successful running and overseeing of events, whilst cultivating support and commitment Work with the marketing and communications team to produce high quality event materials, ensuring consultation with all appropriate stakeholders and agreed deadlines are followed Be proactive with all funders, focusing specifically on those with whom you are organising events, ensuring leads and ideas for funding or business development are explored and cultivated Monitor and report against key metrics, such as expenditure, conversions, table sales, prize pledges, cultivation and new networks/individuals Input into weekly fundraising meetings and monthly team meetings: provide a summary of activities, targets and forecast, upcoming calendar of events and new leads/ideas Person specification We are looking for a talented Senior Events Manager who has a track record overseeing and delivering highly successful events and can think strategically when delivering a wide range of activities You will be an experienced project manager of events who can demonstrate flawless execution from large scale gala dinners to small intimate receptions, within agreed and with conflicting priorities You will need confidence and professionalism to manage stakeholders of the highest level, working with high profile volunteers, celebrities and other key contacts Highly developed written, verbal, communication and negotiation skills to understand, interpret and present complex ideas/information in a clear, persuasive and inspiring way for a range of audiences Developed ability to build, manage and develop relationships with individuals within an organisation and externally to achieve objectives Ability to apply effective numeracy skills and recording of financial data, interpreting, analysing and presenting financial data in clear and accurate Performance indicators Income generation against set individual and team targets Regular reporting to the Head of Fundraising Regular meetings and review of work and activity plan A cohesive working relationship with colleagues is evident Enthusiasm for Chickenshed’s work, ethos and values Environment Working in the Fundraising Department the post holder will be responsible to the Head of Fundraising. The hours of work are 40 per week (Monday – Friday 9.30 am – 5.30 pm). Due to the nature of your position you may be required to work additional hours/different days to cover your responsibilities.
