Over the last two months the Building and Grounds Committee has been looking into the purchase of additional playground units in
order to address the recess needs of our expanding enrollment. We found a company--Sinclair Recreation--that sells GameTime
playground equipment. GameTime also offers matching grants toward the purchase of their equipment. As a result, we were able
to purchase a unit for 2-5 year olds, a large unit for 5-12 year olds, and 2 stand alone units. We received over $26,000 worth of
equipment via the matching grant program that they have. As the salesman said: "Along with your existing playground equipment,
you will have one of the best school playgrounds in Indiana.” In order to reduce our costs, we will have a community build. If all
goes as planned, this will take place on Saturday, November 8, under the supervision of this company. About 30-35 volunteers
will be needed. Service credit hours will be granted to those who volunteer. The Service Credit Committee is offering 3 credit hours for every 4 hour shift (8 AM to Noon and Noon to 4 PM). Eight hours will net 6 credited hours.
This will be a first come, first serve sign up. Volunteers need to be at least 16 years old to work. The supervisors of the community build say that younger children should not be present at the site. So, if you are interested, please contact Mr. Nick Groen regarding the sign up. Thank you ahead of time for your participation. ~Cal Scott, Building and Grounds Chairman.
